Anything less than 7 innings from Stroman and Price is coming in. Can't leave a guy like that on the bench in a do or die game.
I won't be surprised if they leave Price and his 7.20 ERA on the bench.

Yeah, they should probably bench Tulowiztki too, now that we're worrying about numbers.

That's not really an equal comparison there, though I disagree with the initial comment anyway.

Isn't 11 hits and 8 earned runs in 10 innings a good time to "worry about numbers", though? Texas just seems to be hitting Price really well in this round.

Against Texas, yeah, I don't think I'd bring him in.  He's not really suited to be a 1-2 batter relief guy at this point...mind you if the game is on the line I'm not going to get angry if they bring him out to face Choo late in the game.  I don't trust Loup.  I trust Price's bad playoff numbers more than I trust Loup.

I doubt we see Price in the game unless this turns into another 20 inning style game.  Either Stroman gets hit around and it's a moot point or he pitches well and there really isn't a great need to bring him into the game with a rested Osuna, Sanchez, Lowe group.

But if they're expecting Price and we bring in #62 instead, wouldn't that, heh heh, throw Texas for a OW WHY IS EVERYONE HITTING ME OWWW

Jays' line-up card:

So does this mean that Price isn't eligible to come out of the bullpen?

Loup isn't available for the game.  He's still away dealing with a family issue.  So the Jays have zero LHP against a team of lefties.

That lineup card doesn't have Estrada, Dickey, or Price on it and all three would be eligible.  It just doesn't have the starters listed as being part of the pen.

Although what I didn't realize is the Rangers lineup this season had a .741 OPS vs RHP and a .734 OPS vs LHP.  Doesn't seem like it should be a huge issue.

Apparently their lineup was one of the worst vs groundball pitchers like Stroman.  Hopefully that's an advantage.

I don't believe so, since they say Estrada could come out of the pen if necessary and Loup is listed even though he's unavailable.

Gotcha. Gibbons still saying that it's unlikely Price pitches. Like LK said though, that's probably under the assumption that Stroman is good for 7 full innings. If he gets yanked earlier or the game extends past 9 then that plan probably changes.

Loup is away on a family emergency. It would have to be something quite serious to miss Game 4 and 5 of the ALDS.

It seems a bit weird to me that you can call up new people to replace injuries (Cecil) but not call up new people to replace players unavailable for other legitimate reasons.

In order to replace a injured player, I believe that player must also miss the next series. I don't think they'd want to do that with Loup.

Ah, well that makes more sense then.  I guess the idea is to ward off extensive lineup juggling disguised as phony injuries.

Some theatrics there from the ump.

This baseball game needs to get out of the way of the umpires.  They keep blocking my view of the real show.

Jays still need to find a way to manufacture a run with 2-on and no outs but that strike call completely changed the complexion of the inning.  Bases loaded and no outs versus runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out.  Even a grounder/that Martin flyout would have scored a run in that situation.
