LOL. So the only perimiters we need are 'major news' and it happening 'today'. Thanks Damien! That could obviously apply to anything happening today, including drafting any player with any pick. Once again, you're spot on!

Well, I agree that I want them to make that trade but I think they will be able to if they want and if they do they'll get a market rate which is more or less what the Sens got here.

True.  I'm am antsy here.  Leafs need smart management going forward.  I keep waiting for the dumb move to happen where we all go WTF!?!?!??

Anderson can be a good goalie, if he's healthy, but the last three years he's played in more than 50% of his team's games he's had SV% of .911, .914 and .913.

I guess they are banking on him being healthy and that the prospect that they signed will make the jump.  They'll have to see if they are right or not.

does anyone know if there are streams available for the draft tonight?

I'm pretty sure Sportsnet has a live stream in Canada.  In the US you can watch here if you have a cable provider:

So, Oilers looking at getting Doug Hamilton?

Is Boston blowing it up?

I mean, they're "blowing it up" in the sense that the cap is a real thing that governs decisions they have to make.

Thank you, Nik.

I just wouldn't think he'd be the guy they'd sacrifice just to get some relief.

Does the draft actually start at 7PM today or does it start closer to 8?

The first pick is usually made around 7:20 after the initial lead in and Bettman giving his speech.

And I'm sure if you asked them they'd say they'd prefer almost anything but doing that. There's just a practical reality of what signing Hamilton would mean for them. They'd have virtually no cap space to make any changes to a team that had a pretty mediocre season last year. Whether it's trading Hamilton or Krejci or Chara...someone who would make that kind of money has to go and all of those would be "blowing it up" to some extent.

At least with trading Hamilton you figure they could get some good, young controllable assets back.

What do you think Chara would be worth?  If they could move him, I would think that would be the way to go.  You would think that means nobody wants to take him off their hands.

If I were Edmonton or Buffalo, I might be interested in having Lucic patrol my RW with a young McDavid or Eichel.  Hell, I'd have to think 1 yr of Lucic at $6mil would be pretty marketable to many teams.  If it's a cap problem that's forcing the Hamilton talk, then I'd move Lucic before I'd move Hamilton.

I might be interested in it, but I certainly wouldn't offer a ton for it either. Hamilton's a legitimately valuable asset that could bring them back significant pieces. Getting rid of someone like Lucic, again, still leaves them with very little room to improve on a mediocre team.

I mean, he's 38 and coming off what could charitably be called a  down year. I think they could move him but not for a boatload.

Whereas dealing Hamilton might yield significant pieces that could improve the team in the near future at a low cost. That's the thing about dealing Hamilton, it's the assets plus the cap relief.

There's talk that negotiations with him aren't going well. It's seems to be playing out similar to the Kessel situation. They may have to move him for the sake of being able to put together the best possible team under the cap.

Sure, but Hamilton is also significant piece, and trading him leaves a big gaping hole in your defense.  Maybe if the deal included a guy like Nurse, but I just can't see Edmonton doing that.

Nurse, _________, and 16th for Hamilton and Lucic?

I think you might be underestimating Hamilton's value. He just turned 22 and had 42 points in 72 games last year. I think he alone might be worth Nurse+
