2017-18 Toronto Maple Leafs - General Discussion

Give me Tampa. I think the Leafs' speed can beat the Lightning, whereas the Bruins seem to be able to suffocate that speed to a frustrating degree.

I say play whoever.  Careful what you wish for and all that jazz.
We can wish for whatever we want, doesn't make an ounce of difference in the outcome. Whoever the Leafs get the series will go the way it goes. For the record I think the Leafs can beat either team, I have no preference

I think the way things are right now, if the Leafs play Tampa, a contingent of the fans will think that beating them is going to be easier than beating the Bruins.  I really don't think that either team is an easy out, and in order for the Leafs to win either series, it will be more about how the Leafs play rather than who they play.  In order for the Leafs to win, they are going to need their scoring depth to show up, their special teams to be exceptional, and Andersen to be at the top of his game.  Those things don't happen and I don't think the Leafs are getting far, regardless of who they play.  I think teams like Boston and Tampa Bay can get away with having a bad game here or there from there top players and still win the game based on their personnel and experience.  I think the margin of error for the Leafs is much smaller.  So picking one opponent over the other in my mind only sets you up for a false sense of hope because you feel like there is a greater chance of winning, where in reality, there probably isn't.

Well said.
