CarltonTheBear said:I saw someone point out yesterday that Johnsson is still technically considered a rookie this season and for whatever reason that actually surprised me. His 4-point night yesterday pushed him into a tie for 3rd in rookie scoring this season with Ottawa's Colin White. They both have 26 points in 46 games. He trails Elias Pettersson who has 46 points in 42 games and Rasmus Dahlin who has 28 points in 51 games.
Petterson are Dahlin are pretty much locks to finish 1-2 in Calder voting this season, but I wonder if a strong 2nd half could still earn Johnsson a nomination there.
Nik the Trik said:My guess is that a guy Johnsson's age really has to be way out in front to earn a nod over a guy with a similar season but 4 or 5 years younger. Right now I think someone like Heiskanen is in the #3 spot.
What a team we had there. Sundin, Roberts, Nolan, Leetch, Nieuwendyk, Kabs, Francis, Mogilny, McCabe, Antropov, Poni to name some.disco said:Hey guys, while we're waiting for Leafs vs Habs Saturday night here's a nice blast from the past. 2004 team with a giant comeback in Buffalo. Look at those names.

Matthews CF w/o Marleau: 55.64
Matthews P/60 w/ Marleau: 2.6
Matthews P/60 w/o Marleau: 3.5
And Marleau has consistently been 4th among forwards in 5-on-5 ice-time this season. There's just no way to justify his ice-time/playing time with Matthews anymore.

TML fan said:From what I've seen the last few games, there's just no chemistry with Kapanen. Both players want to shoot. Kapanen doesn't have the high end skill to make plays through traffic and isn't great at getting to open areas for Matthews to get him the puck.
Marleau is just a giant anchor. He can't keep up with the high level of play anymore. It's not his fault. Babcock needs to recognize this. I understand wanting to respect the player, but winning is more important at this point of the season.
Marleau's place is on the 4th line.
Totally agree. It's tough playing shorthanded all the time which is essentially what he has to do every shift. It's time for Willy and Matthews to be back together.OldTimeHockey said:Marleau's place isn't on the 4th line. But, as I said the other day, Matthews lack of production has more to do with his linemates and less to do with his shoulders
