Results for Friday Feb.16:
Oh, no, Canada! Team Canada, actually Maxim Noreau can curse the post, as the Canadians lost 3-2 to Team Czech Republic in the shootout.
With both squads tied at the end of regulation, and with no winner in the OT, the game went to a shootout and that turned out to be Canada's Achilles heel.
Playing a strong offensive game and outshooting the Czechs, the Canadians seemed disorganized defensively allowing the Czechs to capitalize on their chances.
Canada's goaltender Ben Scrivens came to the fore as did his opponent, Czech Pavel Francouz. However, Francouz stymied the Canadian forwards when it counted the most, in the shootout, and was the key to keeping his Czech Republic teammates in the game throughout regulation & OT.
Canadian goals were by Mason Raymond & Ren? Bourque. Canada led 2-1 in the first period but the Czechs tied it up in the second.
Now, about that post....

Team OAR (Olympic Athletes from Russia) blew away Team Slovenia 8-2. The Russians led by the likes of Ilya Kovalchuk, Mikhail Grigirenko, & Pavel Datsyuk, proved an overwhelming opponent for the Slovenians. The Russian squad is highly touted as Gold medal favourites.
