Well, congrats to Scrivens and the guys. Sucks not being able to beat Germany but a Bronze is nothing to sneeze at given the circumstances. Represented the country well.

A lot of countries would of thrown in the towel after yesterdays humiliating loss. It's good to see the team bounce back for the bronze.

I guess? I suppose I didn't really see the loss as humiliating.

Bronze Medal game results:

Redemption!

Team Canada handily defeated Team Czech Republic 6-4 and wins the Bronze medal here in the Men's Ice Hockey event.  In a complete turnaround to their stunning Semi-final loss to Germany, the Canadians played an upbeat,, industrious game and denied the Czechs any chance at an upset.

Canada took the lead in the first period by a score of 3-1 and never relinguished it thereafter, as Sam Ebbett and Chris Kelly led the offensive charge with two goals each and goaltender Kevin Poulin stood on guard in the net.

The Czechs, desperate to initiate some scoring, had a goal disalloeed as Canada retained their 5-2 margin at that point.  Even though the Czechs outshot and did everything they valiantly could in the third period, Canada hung on, sustained, and thus prevailed.

Congratulations, Team Canada!  You have now done us proud.

Congratulations to Team Canada on at least securing the Bronze medal!

Team Canada, without NHL'ers, will always be hard pressed to win a Gold medal! Not impossible, but, a lot harder to accomplish for sure!

The other hockey countries seem to have a larger pool of skilled hockey players that are not in the NHL. The top skilled players from both Canada and the U.S.A play in the NHL.

So, Team Canada and Team U.S.A are disadvantaged when the NHL says no! JMHO.

I suppose you're correct. Stunning is perhaps the correct term

Gold Medal game results:

Team OAR (Olympic Athletes from Russia) defeated Team Germany 4-3 in OT and win the Gold here at the Men's Ice Hockey event.

Kirill Kaprizov scored the OT winner on the powerplay.  It has been twenty plus years since the Russians last won Olympic hockey Gold.  Nothing but jubilation & joy on the ice and in the stands for the Russian players and fans alike.  Though the Russian squad played with the jerseys with the Olympic rings emblazoned instead of their country name, and under the anthem & flag of the Olympics, none of this deterred all of the Russians both on the ice and in the stands to overpower the Olympic anthem and proudly belt out their Russian anthem.

It was definitely an emotional moment for the country amid the doping scandals and all.
But it came as little surprise to hockey analysts everywhere of just which country was favored to win Gold.  With an all-Star lineup that consisted of ex-NHLers such as Pavel Datsyuk, Viktor Voynov, Ilya Kovalchuk, Mikhail Grigorenko, et al., this Russian squad made good on their promise to bring back the Olympic hockey Gold.

With Team Canada stunningly eliminated in the Semi-finals, the gold medal was no longer truly up for grabs.  The German squad, surprisingly, matched the Russians so well that the game had to be decided via OT is testimonial to that.  The German nation could not be prouder to see their country earn it's first-ever appearance in an Olympic hockey Gold medal match, and earning the Silver as a result in the process.  Way to go, Deutschland!

Congratulations to Russia.  Enjoy your Gold - en victory!

Congratulations to Germany on a tournament very-well played.
