While on the subject of scalping...

I remember once, as a birthday present from my brother, I had wanted to see Mike Bossy & the New York Islanders play at Maple Leaf Gardens at the time.  This was at some point in the early 1980's.

My brother bought the tickets from a scalper named Mike (at the time, $50 for a pair).  We had seats higher up behind the net.  I was so happy to get to see Bossy pot two goals that night.  To add to the excitement, we both descended to the area where the Zamboni was housed & visitor dressing rooms were. (No security present there). Imagine my delight in seeing the members of the Islanders coming out of their respective dressing rooms and onto the ice.

Ah, memories.

For the record, BTW, that fellow named Mike appeared on the television news claiming to have been Ballard's illegitimate son.

As for the Blue Jays, well, I have never been to a game, only my parents did at the time of the CNE & Exhibition Stadium.  They obtained tickets while attending the CNE via a promotion.  Anyway, they sat way way up in the bleacher seats and were surrounded by screaming fans all waiting to glove a homerun ball.
(Laughing) I don't recall them enjoying their Blue Jays adventure.

S-w-e-e-p!!

Coupled with Saturday's 2-0 shutout win over the Washington Nationals, in which saw Devon Travis' two-run homer & starter Marco Estrada pitch brilliantly against the N.L.'s top guy Max Scherzer, and with today's 8-6 victory, the Blue Jays not only complete a sweep but won their seventh consecutive home game.

In today's win, Yangervis Solarte's home run gave him the team lead in that category.  Hernandez hit a solo shot and Grichuk had two.  Contributing to the stats were Morales & Pillar.  Quite an eventful day for the Jays' bats.

Jays reliever Ryan Tepera got the win.

Toronto sports a 6-2 advantage this season in interleague matches.

The Jays have the day off Monday.

It's probably too late to salvage much but Morales and Grichuk are hitting reasonably well of late. I think it's instructive inasmuch as guys who have proven themselves to be decent MLB hitters don't just turn into .150 hitters all of a sudden. Moreover if a competent MLB hitter has a .150 month or so it's not something a GM could reasonably foresee or fix.

The Atlanta Braves (42-29) come to town in a two-game interleague set againat the Toronto Blue Jays (33-38).

The Braves lead the N.L.East,  3.5 games up of the second-place Washington Nationals.  Atlanta is coming off a successful 5-1 stretch.

The Blue Jays are in third spot in the A.L.East, 15.0 GBL NYYankees & Red Sox (these two latter teams are currently in a tie for first).  The Jays come off a successful sweep of the Washington Nationals that saw them swing the bats very effectively.  Call it somewhat of an offensive tear if you will, bit that's what the Jays have been on latel,  plenty of homers one could also add.

The Braves having the best record in their division will present a challenge for the Jays.  A challenge many believe they will meet head on.

Game live streaming on facebook, free. Happ is mowing them down. Forget trading him, resin him.

No way! Happ will be 36 this fall and is having a good season on a mediocre team. We need to sell high with him, mainly because many of our other impending free agents won't bring much of a return due to injuries or bad seasons.
Mariners and Yankees reportedly interested, obviously prefer he not go to New York, but if they put in the best offer the Jays need to take it.

The Toronto Blue Jays (34-39) come to Angel Stadium for a four-game stint against the Los Angeles Angels (39-35).

The Angels, with thirteen players on the DL,  are 10.0GBL Houston Astros in the A.L.West, and 7 GB the second WC spot.

The Angels despite the injuries still have a formidable power hitter in Mike Trout.  Trout leads the league in virtually every category particularly in OPS , runs (60),  OBP (.458), and  WAR (6.3).
Los Angeles' other sensation is young  prospect  Shohei Ohtani.  Strike him off the lineup for now and on the DL with a grade 2 collateral elbow ligament strain.

The  Blue Jays are coming off a split of their most recent interleague homestand set versus the Braves.
Jays starter Marcus Stroman is set to return after being on the DL since May 11 with shoulder fatigue.

Yes please, 2 more decades of .500 ball.

Because holding on to an aging pitcher instead of picking up assets to help build the team's future is the best way to avoid being a .500 team.

Blue Jays beat the Angels 4-1 Saturday on Steve Pearce's three-run homer in the ninth.  Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo shot earlier in the game.

Jays starter Marcus Stroman pitched for a solid five innings allowing six hits.  It was Stroman's first game since coming off the DL with shoulder problems.  He had been absent on the mound since May 11.

Reliever Seunghwan Oh got the win and Tepera the save.

The Jays placed starting pitcher Jaime Garcia on the DL with shoulder inflammation.
Starter Aaron Sanchez also placed on the DL due to index finger bruise.

Blue Jays defeat the Angels 7-6 Sunday afternoon to earn a split of this four-game series. Thanks to Kendrys Morales whose 10th inning pinch- home run won it for the Jays.  Other home run contributions earlier came from Granderson, Travis, & Diaz.

Jays starter Sam Gaviglio allowed  three runs in a little over five innings with some sloppy defensive work on the part of his teammates.
Tyler Clippard finished out for the save.

The Blue Jays venture to Minute Miad Park foe a three-game series against the Houston Astros.

The Astros not only lleqd the A.L. West but also sport the A.L.'s leader in batting in Jose Altuve (.345 BA).

The Blue Jays coming off a split of their series against the Angels will try to continue on their modest two-game winning streak.  Look for prospect Ryan Borucki to possibly take the place of injured starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez.

LET'S GO BLJE JAYS!

Time to trade Jay before he becomes Hapless and Estrada, trade Donaldson and Martin and T.T. (the breakable shortstop), lets face it, if we can get some good returns and draft picks for these guys at this point then lets pull the trigger.
Keep the Smoak Monster, Pillar, Travis, Stroman, Sanman,  Sam G, and give Osuna another chance, he is really just a kid (that needs some serious counciling) and oh get rid of that bum Garcia. I dislike him worse than Loup.

Blue Jays beat the Astros 6-3 last night on home runs by Granderson (2) and Grichuk.  Grichuk's two-run ninth inning homer vaulted the Jays lead on the scoreboard.

Jays starter J.A. Happ got the win.

Not to mention Grichuk's fantastic catch in right-field that preserved the win for the Jays.  Awesome Randall!

I really don't get the weird repping for Osuna.

Not only that, but do any of us really know any facts in this case? I'm not sure why anyone can definitively say he deserves another chance when they don't even know what happened.

As for the prospect of trading Tulo and/or Martin...it's not possible. Tulo has a ton of $ left on his contract (until 2021!!) and is in worse shape than Mick Foley. Martin is 35 and has another 20 million left. They are dead, dead weights.
