So, the big winner of the Subban-Weber deal is . . . no one?
Gotta say Nashville. They did make it to the finals in 17. Habs were out first round and haven't made it back since.

Unless Weber retires and Nashville is hit with massive recapture penalties

Weber is getting 6, 6, 3(in 22/23), after this year then he goes to 1,1,1 so he isn't walking from 3 mill a year. I don't see him walking from 1 mill for sitting on his ass. The recapture for the first year at 1mill in 23/24 is 8.1 mill for 3 years. It's very unlikely the NHL is going to penalize Nashville or any team that kind of money in the last 3 years.

It's more likely he's on LTIR until the contract expires in 6 years. It's more that Nashville has so little left to show for the deal. The return for Subban was pretty pitiful, and the team is clearly on the downturn. They had some brief success with Subban - though, probably not more than they would have had with Weber - but, in the grand scheme of things, it may not end up working out particularly well for either team.

Habs say he's only out 4-6 weeks anyways.

Hall trade has a similar feel.

Kypreos jumped to a wild conclusion before Weber even met with a specialist, eh? His employer must be very disappointed. Oh, wait...

I dunno, there seems to be some smoke here. First it was day-to-day, then it was won't play this week, then out 4-to-6 weeks.

I doubt we see him again this year.

I'll say this, things definitely escalated. At first, he was only going to miss a game or two.

(Can you tell I have Weber on my fantasy team?  ;D)

I'd give Chara more of the benefit of the doubt if he hadn't been a dirty player for like his entire career or whatever.
