2022-2023 NHL trades and signings

The crazy part is, what do they do with Hedman? Hedman has two years left at a lower hit....But, what do you pay him after that season?(or prior if you don't want him to hit UFA)

I was being nice to Ottawa earlier but I really don't get why they wouldn't want Puljujarvi involved in this deal.

Cernak 5.2M x8 years
Cirelli 6.25M x8 years
Sergachev 8.5M x8 years

79 million in cap hit committed to 13 players for next season when these extensions kick in.

$6.875mil of that is Seabrook's fake cap hit though. But yeah, it's a lot. And other than maybe Paul (who they just signed) none of those guys would be players Tampa wants to move for cap space.

Like, these are all good pieces and all, but the numbers on these deals are bonkers. I wouldn't commit to Cirelli or Cernak for 8 years. Bonkers. This is the worst kind of Stanley Cup hangover - a year too late, committing big money to role players . . .

I'd have taken Kuemper for that. Surprised it wasn't closer to $6mil.

Me too.  My guess is that if the Leafs were bidding against Washington then the price would have gone up.  The Leafs taking themselves out of the bidding early did Washington a favor.
