They also have a well regarded prospect system plus all their draft picks AND 7 more picks in the next two drafts
The future is (sadly) pretty bright in Montreal.

Not to mention boatloads of cap space. Obviously this isn't their only "window" necessarily but I wonder how aggressive they go over the next 3 seasons while they have Suzuki and Caufield on their $7.875mil deals. They also have a well regarded prospect system plus all their draft picks AND 7 more picks in the next two drafts
If they're smart, they won't be mortgaging the future too soon like the Leafs did.Not to mention boatloads of cap space. Obviously this isn't their only "window" necessarily but I wonder how aggressive they go over the next 3 seasons while they have Suzuki and Caufield on their $7.875mil deals.
Hold off on the JT signing. If they're smart, they won't be mortgaging the future too soon like the Leafs did.
Plus signing ridiculous player friendly contracts and shoving the majority of their cap in 4 players. Molsons is not that dumb.If they're smart, they won't be mortgaging the future too soon like the Leafs did.
Is that right? Montreal can still pass Ottawa. They've got a big game against each other tomorrow.A Florida win rules out a Toronto-Montreal 1st round.
Yes you are right. Fixed that. It eliminates Montreal from getting to A3 and creating a Leafs A2 vs. Habs A3 matchup, but could still have a Leafs A1 vs. Habs WC1 matchup. Is that right? Montreal can still pass Ottawa. They've got a big game against each other tomorrow.
I was kinda shocked when I saw the Habs had a chance of catching Ottawa. A couple of weeks ago it seemed certain the sens were gonna finish in the WC1 spot. Winning 6 in a row would do that though I guess.Yes you are right. Fixed that. That 2nd goalie was a 22-year old rookie playing in his first ever NHL game too.Patrick Roy pulls goalie, goalie lets second shot in, Roy puts first goalie back in the net...
Thanks for doing these. I look for them now ..Meaningful games for the Leafs tonight:
Detroit @ Florida
- Detroit is 8 points back of Montreal for the last playoff spot with 5 games remaining (4 for Montreal). A regulation loss all but eliminates them (Magic point number of 1). The Leafs play Detroit for Game 82 and this will likely be a meaningless game for the Red Wings but could still affect the Leafs playoff spot.
- Florida is 6 points back of Toronto for the division lead with 4 games remaining. A regulation loss guarantees they can't win the division. The magic number is 3 points otherwise.
- Florida is 3 points back of Tampa. Tampa's magic number is current 6 to finish ahead of Florida.
- Florida is 4 points up on Ottawa. Their magic number is 5
- Florida is 7 points up on Montreal. Their magic number is 1.
Hurricanes @ Capitals
- Carolina is 4 points back of Toronto with 5 games remaining. Carolina holds the first tiebreaker with the Leafs so the magic number is 7 points. This would only matter if Carolina and Toronto were to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
- The Leafs play Carolina (5PM game so get ready for weird game in Carolina shenanigans) so that game could lock up the standings between these teams.
A best case scenario would be a Florida win in OT and a Carolina loss.
dangerous looking play by Perry... which is no surprise..lol Binner. But I get it, that was an accidentally-on-purpose skate into the goalie’s neck area play. Binnington took it easy by using the glove hand instead of the blocker
