2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Who said Savard was the whole problem?
Actions speak louder than words.
Who else got fired, traded, waived or sent down?

One guy took the fall for many ... for now.
Of course, the guys who fired him said they were taking full responsibility too ...:)

We are now ranked 7th with a GF/G of 3.28 and 347 points, I know it doesn't mean much when we're mired in such a tight playoff race, but for me when I look at the standings I can't help but add 4 points, I really believe Stolie was playing hurt or something else going on, but he wasn't himself and this is not a knock on him, but there were 2 games in there where we were playing good enough to win and he let in some real stinkers, so in reality this team should be in the first wildcard spot, and that's my optimistic view of the day...lol

Average goaltending for those first few weeks of the season plus a competent PP in the first half, and this team is a clear playoff squad. Doesn't mean they were playing well by any means, but they're better than their record. If the Woll/Hildeby tandem can hold the fort well enough the rest of the way, the Leafs can definitely climb into a playoff spot.

MLHS:

"– Jake McCabe was wearing an A in this game and was very much a leader on the ice. He played nearly 24 minutes, blocked eight shots, and finished at plus-two. His nice read to cut out a play in the neutral zone helped draw the first Toronto power play, and he made several good first passes to start breakouts. He’s now at +21 on the season while playing over 22 minutes a night, largely against top competition, and starting just 27% of his shifts in the offensive zone (his 256 defensive-zone faceoffs are 52 more than the Leafs’ next-highest, OEL). Considering Tavares and Nylander have slowed down quite a bit in this recent segment, Woll has been really good but has missed a lot of time, and Matthews hasn’t taken flight fully, there is good case to be made for McCabe as the team’s MVP through the first half of the season, even if there was a rocky stretch when he was forced over to the right side."

I think this is true. I had no idea his +/- was that good, plus all the other stats quoted.

From google search
"Hockey groin prognosis is generally good, with most mild to moderate strains (Grade 1-2) healing in 1-2 months with rest and physio, but severe tears (Grade 3) can take 3-6+ months, potentially needing surgery, with a full recovery expected if managed properly"

So best case from that (if it is accurate) is Tanev is out 1-2 months ....
