As @jeffler on twitter points out, Lupul has played in 91 games and this is his 5th injury since signing his 5 year extension.

Remember Philly got next to nothing for Bobrovsky, goalie prices can be underwhelming.

Lupul will have knee surgery. Effectively done for the remainder of the regular season.
Three week recovery from surgery to meniscus for Lupul.

If Brodeur in his prime played that many games, he would have had close to 50 wins, and an average goalie would have had 40+ wins. Those extra 6 to 10 points made the difference between not making the playoffs and making the playoffs.

Phaneuf, Gunnarsson, Franson, JVR all dealing with varying injuries. JVR's remains a lingering issue that may require further attention.

Defenceman Carl Gunnarsson, who missed the last game with his ongoing hip-related problem, might need minor corrective surgery in the off-season.
?We?re not sure yet,? general manager Dave Nonis said Monday. ?He needs further examination.?
Gunnarsson plays 19-plus minutes a night as Dion Phaneuf?s partner, but stuck it out for 80 games this year and wound up a plus-12. First-line left winger James van Riemsdyk also alluded to being slowed in March and April, during which the whole line with Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak had just 22 points.
?I?d rather not get into specifics,? said van Riemsdyk, other than classifying them as nagging injuries. ?With the schedule as it was with the Olympics (he and Kessel did double duty) it happens. Towards the end of the year, things start to hamper you. But it?s your job to be ready to go.?
