Blues @ Leafs - Jan. 2nd, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

If my calculations are correct, if we hold on and win this one we clinch the first seed in the Western Conference.

How is it not n answer?  Ference can't show the young Edmonton forwards how to drive to the net, work hard, and, take abuse, in the prime scoring area!!!

Ference isn't a forward. I asked what ways he's not a high work ethic player or doesn't lead by example.

The Edmonton D is bad.  Has he changed that much?  He is a veteran and all, but, he doesn't bring the high work ethic of a high energy, high work ethic forward.  The Edmonton forwards need this type of example IMHO.

Edmonton needs D and goaltending too, but, I think they wouldn't be as bad if their highly drafted forwards were better.

No. Because things like "work ethic" and "leading by example" are secondary to assembling talent. Ference won a cup ring. Has Komarov? Why hasn't Komarov led the Leafs to a Championship? Therefore, Ference is a better leader than Komarov.

That's your logic.

So, a veteran leader, character type player didn't improve their D, but one would somehow improve their defence? Ference absolutely brings the work ethic and all of the things you want going defencemen to learn. He's the D equivalent of the type of forward you're talking about, and adding him has accomplished none of the things you want these types of players to help accomplish.

Kadri is sure being rewarded for his play now in terms of points.

He certainly is.  Making my comments from a few weeks ago about how disappointing his scoring has been look silly.

My logic, as flawed as it is in your mind, is that Komarov could be a better leader for the Edmonton forwards.  That's it.  No one could say if this would work with that Edmonton crew, but, I'd bet he would improve their forward core with the example of his work ethics.

10 wins in 16 games against the West (9 ROW)
5 wins in 21 games against the East (2 ROW)

Only 12 more games against the West. 33 against the East.

That's not logic. That's an opinion. Logic is supposed to inform opinion. The reasoning you gave for Ference not being a good leader or his work ethic not being as influential on the Oilers is the Oilers performance. But the exact same logic says that because Ference's teams have had way more success than Komarov's that his work ethic must be better.

It's flawed reasoning. It doesn't even hold to an internal consistency.

If Bernier had played as well as even average prior to his last 3 games, we'd be in some serious trouble in the draft rankings.
