Game Notes

BOS
?Halak gets the start (4-1-3) and is enjoying a 0.918 save percentage as if that stat actually matters; he looked back to see 4 goals behind him the last time he faced the Leafs in Toronto
?The Bruins have had plenty of time to stew over Tuesday's shootout loss to the Panthers after taking a 4-0 lead in the second and completely squandering it in the third; it was their 4th loss in a row so naturally there are calls to fire Bruce Cassidy and trade David Pastrnak they will be very motivated
?Guess who hasn't been scored on all season? That's right, Par Lindholm.

TOR
?Leafs cancelled practice on Thursday, opting for a closed door meeting as a team to put their heads together amidst early season adversity
?Dubas made up for the short notice by holding court for the beat media to elaborate on his evaluation of the team thus far
?To the chagrin of many dudes in sunglasses (as well as my delight), Nylander is a point per game in his last 11 games and already has more goals than his previous season
?If you take away the Tampa game, the Columbus game, the other night's Islander game, and any game he has given up a lot of goals, Andersen's save percentage would be super high! He'll be taking the first game of the upcoming back-to-back just to piss some of you off

?Jake Debrusk

?Alexander Kerfoot - Dental Surgery
?David Clarkson

JASON SPEZZA TIME

From that Carter hit maybe?

EDIT:  Yeah, it happened in the LA game according to LeafsPR, so I'm assuming it's the Carter hit.

Every year there's a team that comes into the season with a lot of expectations and promise and they end
of having a disaster of a season. Most times it seems to be a one-off year (such as TB as few years ago).

I'm beginning to think the Leafs are going to be this year's example.

Repeated injuries, horrible play, horrible back up goaltending, we've only beat teams below us in the standings....
Florida, Buffalo and the Habs look like they may be a lot better than last year....yikes...

Yes it's only 20 games but the hits keep on coming (eg Kerfoot now). I'm not saying this to be like ic9 but it seems we just can't
get going without some kind of issues or circumstances arising.

At least our #1 is lottery protected...

Hmmm...'facial dental fractures'.  As opposed to all those other types of dental fractures?

To me, that means more than just teeth were fractured: jaw, mandibular structures, etc. If it was just dental, I doubt he'd be out indefinitely like this.

JASON SPEZZA TIME

Hmmm...'facial dental fractures'.  As opposed to all those other types of dental fractures?

What does that even mean?  Is it actual fracture to some facial bones or just teeth work?

I've slotted Spezza into the Kerfoot spot for the time being, but I kind of think it'll be more like:
Mikheyev-Petan-Spezza
Moore-Shore-Gauthier

to round out the bottom of the roster. Two LR centre options on each of these lines, both getting sheltered minutes but Shore's will get heavy DZ usage as usual, while Spezza/Petan will get the OZ looks. Matthews and Tavares lines likely to hit 20+ min for the next little while.

The Marlies are off this weekend as well, so it's a good time to see what some of the kids can do.

Pretty strange to see a scratch work out with the PP group.

You're probably right, in which case it should have 'facial and dental fractures'.

I doubt most here in the GDT tonight will be adhering to this sentiment :)
