Bruins vs. Maple Leafs - Jan. 14th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

I hope they prove me wrong and you can  be angry at my "negative" post all you want but this team just doesn't have that dawg in them. Tavares with just an incredibly stupid play that led to the goal. And that previous shift with Marner and Matthews...Yes I know it's the Pasta line but I notice they are always cheating when in the D-zone. There is a reason this core always loses these type of games especially in the playoffs. They're always making the little mistakes that come back to bite them. They just don't have it IMO.

Losing in the final two minutes with an illness going through the locker room, on the 3rd game in 4 nights all in different cities AND Boston was just playing their second game in a week.

Losing by one goal was an ok result.  Tough to not at least get the OT point but just move on from here.  They continue to show they can hang with the top teams

It's not that they lost by one goal, it's the giveaway to blow the game in the final 2 minutes that's the problem. This is a constant thing with this team especially come playoff time. They cannot make the smart plays when it's the big moment.

And that's the thing. They can play with anyone and this game could have gone either way. Leafs had some great looks. All B goals came off mistakes by the Leafs.

LOL yes they hang with the top teams. This isn't the first year of the rebuild folks. They are one of the best regular season teams in the NHL so I would hope they can ?hang with the top teams?.

I see a mentally weak team. Great skill. A great team. But a team that wilts under pressure. I feel that's pretty obvious at this point. But heh, maybe this year is the year they finally switch it on. As they say, 6th times the charm.

My only complaint is Boston always with the cheap shots. And Boston can go eat a bag of dicks, but that's not a complaint, more of a suggestion.

Rolo, you won't hear me criticizing your POV.  Tonight was a playoff-like game, and like always in the recent past they couldn't get it done.  It's an open question whether they have the mental toughness to actually win a pressure series, but until they do doubting them is completely valid.

Even Keefe, who is mind-numbingly positive in his postgames, sort of criticized them along your lines tonight:

The big thing is that we can play with any team in the league. We can do it on the road. We can do it with three games in four nights and all of those kinds of things.

At the same time, you know you can?t beat yourself when you are playing any team in the league, but when you?re playing a team of this calibre, you can?t give them freebies ? and we did.

Those are the two big things to take away from this. Both are very positive. You have to learn these lessons sometimes the hard way. You?d like to think our group is past some of these things, but clearly not. We got a smack right in the face tonight.

I didn't watch the game, but I mean Boston is on an insane historic regular season run. They're on pace to smash their regular season record from 1970. It's just odd to me that one team can't just have won and that's it without all this narrative surrounding it.

This is why I'm not at all worried about last night. This was a schedule loss plain and simple. Missing that extra jump due to fatigue + illness. Mistakes are made when you're tired and playing a rested team.
