Canucks @ Leafs - Jan. 5th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Dermott and Zaitsev have both made some good reads to head off potential odd-mans.  And moving the puck out of the DZ well.

Marner is pure entertainment to watch. The NHL should be ashamed of itself for not including him in the All Star game.

It?s surprising to me how often nhl players ice the puck on a dump in because they think they reached the redline.  It should literally never happen when you?re just dumping it in.

I think that was Marner on that one?

Every obvious penalty the leafs commit is called 100%.  50 percent of obvious penalties committed against the leafs is a penalty.

I thought the Leafs should have at least one. Although I've read elsewhere that the Leafs are disproportionately non-called.

I wonder if Babcock would ever try Matthews on the PK, playing the same role as Marner.  He ought to be good at disrupting zone entries, stealing pucks, etc.  And it would be another chance to possibly get him into an open-ice situation short-handed.  This last stretch where he hasn't scored he's had next to no time and space anywhere, even on the PP.

I was thinking of doing that with Kadri. Never understood why he was never tried on the PK while he was making a living shutting down guys like McDavid at 5-on-5.

Not a bad idea.
