Canucks @ Leafs - Jan. 6th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

I?d like the Leafs to try more backboard passes, as cheap as they might be. Especially at home where we know the boards best.

I wonder if it's time to shake up the PP units.  Why not put JVR with 29/34?  Both units look stale.

They looked okay. Good chances from the first unit and almost bagged two goals. Y?all gotta understand there?s a great deal of luck involved in this game. We are still generating chances.

I'm talking about more than just this game.

They could be better.  I'd like to see Babcock mix it up.

What the hell are these guys shooting at. FFS

Are you even watching the game?

Yes I am. Lets just put it on the net, enough of the fancy shit. shot.

What does it look like they?re shooting at? It?s not Jason Blake straight into the crest off the wing rush, and it?s not Dion Phaneuf?s blast to the glass.

Vancouver is lining up in layers to block shots. The Leafs defense is aiming point shots to the sides for deflections into the middle.

What the heck do you people have against Gardiner tonight?

I don't see it, either. He certainly hasn't looked any worse than the rest of the team tonight.

Yep, me three. Not sure why he's being singled out tonight anyway.

Overall, though, I think Gardiner's struggling between deferring to his natural tendencies, which are to skate and carry, as opposed to moving and dumping the puck away. I get what Babcock's trying to do but for some players you really just have to let them play to their strengths, and limiting Gardiner's greatest strength, to me, makes no sense.

He isn?t in charge of the PP and they already put Brown over Komarov.

Also, can we please get Bozak the eff off the ice? I can't stand watching him lose every single puck battle, pass to non-existent teammates and miss completely open nets.

Heh.  He's in charge of the PP.  He's in charge period.

He did win the last game for us.

Perhaps that's it, or perhaps he's less sure of Carrick so he's second-guessing himself and taking a bit longer than normal to process things. He just doesn't look nearly as good as he usually does. Normally on any given night you never know if the best defenceman on the will be Rielly or Gardiner. In the last month or so it's been Rielly, almost every night, by a mile.
