Clarkson for horton

Honestly. Does this deal give Shanahan reason to consider retaining Nonis for at least another year? I think it might.

In one fail swoop:

- Nonis pulls his job out of the fire and back into the frying pan
- Columbus gets an actual player for their $5.3 million
- Toronto makes a deal to pay someone nearly $40 million to never play again
- An instant $5.25 million in cap space for the Leafs
- Clarkson goes on to score 25 goals/year for the Jackets

Absolutely brilliant

That's amazing. No other way to describe it.

If Clarkson goes on to become a regular 20-30 goal scorer now, good for him. It wasn't going to happen in Toronto.

Does anyone know if Horton has any inclination towards ever playing again? Or is he really done?

Right, so this is definitely going through? We don't have to wait for it to be ratified by the league or anything?

I heard he was going to take a job in the player safety office.  ;)

An article I read a couple of months ago was pretty grim. Extremely unlikely he ever plays again.

Columbus' GM doesn't seem to think so:

This is worth coming out of "lurker status" to post about.

GREAT SUCCESS!

I'd say I hope Clarkson lands on his feet in Colombus, but he'll likely continue to be on his butt for a significant portion of his shifts.

Last I heard he spends most of his days in excruciating pain and has to have an experimental procedure to fuse a metal shaft to his back just to move his quality of life back to almost normal...so I am going with no.

Sounds like a long shot but he hasn't given up:
