Clarkson for horton

In one fail swoop:

- Nonis pulls his job out of the fire and back into the frying pan
- Columbus gets an actual player for their $5.3 million
- Toronto makes a deal to pay someone nearly $40 million to never play again
- An instant $5.25 million in cap space for the Leafs
- Clarkson goes on to score 25 goals/year for the Jackets

Absolutely brilliant

Honestly,  I hope Clarkson gets his career back on track playing in a market like Columbus.  It was painfully obvious he couldn't handle to pressure of playing is the fishbowl circus that is the the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Does anyone know if Horton has any inclination towards ever playing again? Or is he really done?

An article I read a couple of months ago was pretty grim. Extremely unlikely he ever plays again.

Yeah, I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not there's a possibility, no matter how slight, that he just retires. I wouldn't begrudge him hanging on to cash his checks but I have to think there's some sort of actual rehabbing he'd have to do to keep earning his salary that might not be worth it after a while.

I'd just like to say kudo's to all previous posters here for their brilliant
responses to #1 on the list of "Extremely Unlikely Things Anyone Would Ever See".

Extremely well done everyone!  :D  :D

My only concern now is how much the team improves without Clarkson playing.

I mean, the powerplay is immediately improved, and the penalty kill will not
be required as much.

Egads!

I'm making a vow right here, right now. I will literally never say a bad thing about Dave Nonis ever again.

Don't forget who got us in this mess to begin with.

Dave Nonis smells like roses and feeds starving children ever day.

So who do they waste the cap space on this summer? Vermette?

So I just had this thought....does this mean Richards is coming to the Leafs?  I mean, LA already used their first so....

Nonis confirms that Clarkson waived his NTC for this. Could you imagine if he vetoed it and everyone found out?

I'm guessing that that possibility may, may, have been part of the conversation.
