Coaching and management changes around the league

Sutter out in Calgary

Not a huge surprise. Lot of rumblings of unhappy players and without the results to back that up no real reason to keep him around.

Jack Adams finalist; hope they got him a taxi this time

Friedman reporting the Penguins are waiting for Dubas to decide if he wants the job or not?

Also rumoured, NY Rangers sniffing around Keefe, which would be an amusing reunion with Jimmy Vesey.

John Hynes has 1 year left on his contract with Nashville and incoming GM Barry Trotz (still weird) was non committal about his future with the team after their season ended.

Brunette would have been right at the top of my list for candidates to potentially replace Keefe if he got let go.

It's too bad that the ownership clown show of a sale isn't completed in Ottawa, because I think that would be an ideal fit for Dubas at the stage of the franchise.

It feels very weird that the Leafs are preventing Babcock from signing with Columbus until his contract expires on the 30th. What's the point?

I don't think they are overtly preventing it. Usually if a coach gets hired out after being relieved of duties, the hiring team picks up the rest of the contract (I can't remember where I read this). Babcock is owed 6M+ this year, and I guess 1-2 months of that is worth just waiting out. There might also be other contractual stipulations that are just easier to bypass by waiting.

Edit:
Aaron Portzline is reporting the Blue Jackets weren't able to come to an agreement with MLSE to buy out the rest of the contract. In which case, I don't know what is happening. I thought Rogers hated paying Babcock.
