Devils @ Leafs - Jan. 12th, 7:00pm - LeafsTV, SN 590

Another game without a goal from anyone other than Bozak, JvR, Kessel or Lupul. Only one goal in the last 6 games from someone else, and none from anyone not currently playing in the team's top 6.

Neither goalie really made a save in that shootout. The closest thing was Jagr stick handling himself out of an opportunity to release a shot.

Pretty sure Bernier made three saves...?

Really enjoyed the way the Leafs played tonight. Looked like they gave a crap. Jagr's shoot out attempt made me giggle. I think Clarkson needs to be called in for a sit-down meeting. "We expect you to bring that to every game." And I barely noticed Phaneuf. Was his ice time down?

Bernier has been weak on the shootout.  Commence the cringing and butt-clenching.

Now 5-4 on the year.

He looked okay tonight, but if you look at Bernier's performance in the s/o this year, an unusual percentage of his saves are actually just missed shots.

Jagr stickhandler himself out of position and never took a shot. The 2nd Devils' shooter hit the side of the net and the 3rd missed it completely.

I was down eating dinner when the shootout happened, but both Yahoo Sports and NHL.com reported that Jagr and Boucher missed the net. Clowe was credited with a shot.

I rewound and rewatched the shoot out and this is a fair summary. I think Bernier deserves the credit for staying out of the net and denying the opposition an opportunity to score.

I'll give him credit on the 2nd one for staying with the Devils' shooter and not giving him a good opportunity.

only saw the shootout then watched the highlights.  Was everyone in agreement that dissallowed goal was a TERRIBLE call?

Yes, Schneider fell to the left to try and make a desperation save; but the ref calls it interference by JvR who was the closest Leaf to the net.  Really bad call, I would have thrown my eye-glasses on the ice and called out the Ref, if I was at the game

DeBoer came across as a bit of a dick in the post game interview. "[The Maple Leafs] are pretty fortunate they got two points. We feel a little bit robbed."

4 ROW in 33 games...5 non-shootout wins

ROW stands for Regulation + OT so it would just be 5 in 33 right?

Yeah, it was my laziness in typing.  I was just referring to regulation time wins as opposed to Regulation + OT wins.  I really don't get why you get the same credit for winning in OT that you do for winning in the standard 60 minutes.

Both OT and Regulation wins involve success at "hockey" -- shootout wins are something else and, for instance, don't predict how well one will play in the playoffs.  Hence, it really does make some sense to group OT with Regulation IMHO.

That's precisely what I think as well. Especially the part about the playoffs.

I still hope for the day they extend OT to 10 minutes and get rid of the shootout altogether.

Home games are ruined for me. I can hear the horn from around the ACC (not sure if it's rom real sports or the arena itself) a good 5-10 seconds before I see goals on TV when I watch with my sling box.

Wow, you must be really close, or it must be really loud. Solution- noise cancelling headphones.

I live opposite the ACC on the corner of Bay and Lakeshore.

I live across from the ACC as well.  It's the horn from the ACC's big screen TV off of Bremner Blvd.  It's so loud, I hear that horn first before I see the goal on TV.  It's really annoying.

I imagine everyone who plays the Leafs feels the same way. That being said, it's pretty funny DeBoer feeling robbed after that disallowed goal.
