Domi to MTL for Galchenyuk

I haven't seen one positive article about this trade.  Normally you would see differing opinions, some writers like the deal, some don't.  In this case it's pretty much being universally panned (from Montreal's perspective -- I think Arizona likes it alot)

The most positive comment I have heard is from John Lu of TSN and it was "I'm going to see how the players play before deciding a winner".

Berkshire takes a look at what Domi brings over Galchenyuk in the article above.  Mostly, Domi is a better setup man and the Habs lack that outside of Drouin.  He still thinks Arizona won the trade  (Galch is still a better player overall- 30 Goal scorer!) but Domi does address a bit of a need for them.  That they mismanaged the asset and devalued him so much over the past few seasons is pretty atrocious (for a Habs fan anyways... I'm fine with it )

I do think the reaction has been a bit one-sided.  I'd prefer Galchenyuk for sure, but I don't think this is as lopsided as some other recent 1for1 deals.

No, they addressed the need to have a guy who can pass the puck into high danger scoring areas.  They also didn't believe Galchenyuk could play center for them.  I highly doubt Galchenyuk was going to bring in a good center considering how much they've devalued him.

The old axiom on deals says the team that gets the best player wins the trade. By that standard, you can argue the first two deals, Subban for Shea Weber and Sergachev for Jonathan Drouin.

This one is open and shut: the Coyotes won. Baggage aside, Galchenyuk is the better player, with significantly higher potential.

Did anyone actually read the article???? 

The crazy thing is, this might be a bet that pays off when you look at the number of Canadiens players who scored at way below average rates due to taking very static shots last season.
