Ducks @ Leafs - Dec. 16th, 7:30pm - TSN4, Fan 590

I have to give credit to Carlyle for finally rolling out lines in a more consistent and logical fashion. I guess it has alot to do with the performance of the players leaving him little choice, but at least we're not seeing those bizarre lineup choices and players finishing the night with less than 4 minutes of ice time.

And Carlyle will probably blame Nonis for not giving him a 3rd and 4th line in previous years..

Kessel with 17 goals in 31 games.  On pace for 45 goals.  This coming out of what could arguable be considered one of his slump periods.

It feels like this whole season has been a slump for Kessel. Just continues to quietly rack up those points though.

What a thoroughly bizarre team to follow. But fun. I give up trying to understand

They're doing whatever they can to keep us on our toes and keep things interesting. I feel like we're in for a crazy roller coaster rest of the season.

The Bozak line has fallen off the map and should be cut down to third line minutes until Kessel heals whatever is ailing him (looks like back/shoulder issues). The home side match up advantage might hold us in good stead if we can neutralize the Ducks' top line and beat them in secondary scoring.

@mirtle
Carlyle admits he sheltered the Bozak line tonight.

Kessel: 2G 1A 15:48
Bozak: 1G 1A 18:27
JVR: 0G 2A 18:22

Top 3 lines in the 14-18 min range.

No such luxury on the road.

Some thoughts:

I thought Andersen made some great saves that he got little credit for.

Bernier was a beast.

The whole big bad West thing seems to be pretty easily explained imo, I've never seen as much hooking, holding, obstruction and stick work as we've seen in this recent stretch against the Western teams, I mean it was almost before the early 2000's lockout bad. Refs let about 90% of what I saw go, crazy.

Im glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

He should.

Those Ducks fell apart, or rather, the Leafs offence did the damage, as yet another solid performance by Bernier along with the Leafs offensive display dance show.  Particularly liked Kadri's perfectly timed toe drag shot, as well as Lupe's wrister howitzer.

Enjoyed the show!

GO LEAFS GO!!

Very enjoyable game. the first two periods were a little too exciting for my liking. Boys played a good third and crush them Ducks.

What is with people trying to fight Phaneuf all the time?

Whatever it is, I like it.  If he's pissing people opponents off, he's doing something right.

Actually, overall, I think he's been pretty good lately.

It is nice surprise of late. Him and Franson have been great minus a couple of awful passes from Franson last which made me almost spit up my beer. I also have been impressed with Robadias game as of late.

I concede that that sounds more competent than "Rub-a-dub".
