Flyers @ Leafs - Dec. 20th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Emery has looked like letting every shot in. So the best course of action is clearly to minimise the number of shots you're taking on him

27-13 and absolutely no energy from the team.  Good way to head out on the road.  A cliff dive seems a very probably option at this point.

It's almost guaranteed.  If they don't rein in the shots against it's almost impossible to keep winning requiring a high SV% & SH%.

Wow are we actually on the same page with something? Thank you. Somebody mentioned we would be out of a playoff spot I believe they said next month. I agree too many coasters on this team on a nightly basis. No care for playing defense whatsoever. Bob McCown on his radio show said this team would go nowhere with core players like Kessel, JVR and Phaneuf. I think he may be right.

Wow.  5-3 Philadelphia

33-14 are the shots now.  Abysmal play by Lupul

How many years of Carlyle teams getting shelled like this does it take?

Way too many. They obviously don't give a rats azz about Carlyle's history including his last years with Anheim.

I'm really getting tired of Kessel's lack of intensity on the defensive side of the game.

Should really be Lupul on that play.

I posted that before the goal, my point still stands.

Lupul was the worst on the goal though, yes.

Eh, some players are pure offensive guys, some are pure defensive guys.  But your team has to recognize that and surround them with appropriate players & play them in the appropriate spots.  AKA don't play Jay McClement 20 minutes a game in offensive situations, or don't buyout good 2-way C like Grabovski.

I think you're right for the most part, but as a pro, you can't be just 100% one or the other.

Kessel quits on too many plays when they don't go his way offensively, it's really discouraging and personally I don't think it's much to ask of him to merely do the basics on the defensive side of things.

Ya you're right but I don't care how good you are offensively there's 2 ends to the ice. Said this before with Kessel he's a wimp. Backs away from most contact, shies from the corners, and will never win you many puck battles. I honestly believe he would be hard pressed to win puck battles against the Canadian or American women's teams. Can't think of a softer player in the 40+ years I've been watching this team.

Maybe if we put Strombo and Nick Kypreos in a wheelbarrow together and sacrifice them to the hockey gods, someone up there will have mercy on us Leaf fans.
