That hit on Lupul was later than the interference call on Raymond earlier tonight.

I don't disagree but if you start calling that version of obstruction/interference consistently then you'll have as many power plays as you did in 05/06.

Then don't call it?  I'm fine with games have a bit of leeway game-to-game, but if you are going to call ticky-tack calls within an individual game, be consistent.

Hilarious....that goes shouldn't have happened though.  Kessel was hit in the face with a stick and the Leafs should have been on the PP.

The Leafs are just losing every single battle.

They have all year, it seems.  Not exactly what you want from a team that aspires to playoff success.

I mean, I think that not calling that a penalty leads to some of the ugly, awful hockey we saw in the late 90's. The 05/06 season was a genuine attempt to deal with a legitimate problem. Short of that, there is no way to standardize the call.

I think, quite legitimately, that's the sort of thing the Clarkson deal was meant to address. It flopped but that getting outworked/outmuscled stuff is a real issue for the club going forward, no matter how many pretty goals the top line scores.
