That's just bush league, the NHL is such a backward shitty little backwater league.

Go check my thread in the CHL NCAA forum if you want real bush league!

Looking forward to the standard Bozak dipsy-dangle shelf job he always seems to have against Philly.

Kevin Bieksa is Don's favourite player because he threw a punch, broke his other hand all in a meaningless fight.

He still should have saved it. That wasn't exactly a diffcult shot. His blocker side sucks.

I never said he shouldn't have, but, ultimately, the team isn't going to win as many games as they'd like to if they need their goalie to bail them out as much as they have of late. To me, that's the real problem here.

Nail on head.

Exactly.  As I mentioned in the Hurricanes/Leafs GDT, short of blaming Andersen,  it's the team defence, the disorganization & inconsistencies prevalent in other areas that require fine tuning.  Not Andersen.  Yet.

Making the occasional good save is part of being a good goalie. A starting goalie needs to save that puck. Teams aren't going to be perfect defensively, but that shot should be saved 99% of the time.

So often one of Gardiner's greatest strengths is how at 5v5 he can outskate and outmaneuver oncoming forecheckers in tight areas, but as soon as he's pressed on a PP he has a tendency to look like a deer in headlights.

I know it's partly recency bias, but it is frustrating.

It's not just occasional with this team. Andersen has been faced the 2nd most high quality scoring chances in the league so far this season (behind Matt Murray, btw). This isn't about the Leafs being perfect on defence. It's about them not even being mediocre.

This issue goes far beyond that particular goal. It's just unfortunately emblematic of the situation.

That still doesn't excuse Andersen on that goal.

Correct, it's amazing how many smart people just parrot whatever easy narrative talk radio and tv talking heads shovel out.

This has been a pretty poorly officiated game.  Philly seems to have open season on interference and holds.  That icing call was suspect too.

The Leafs have had a few things go their way all the same.
