If Marleau falters, then maybe but he also played well last night.Bullfrog said:Put that man on Kadri's line, please!

I know Marleau has struggled but I really thought all along he'd bring come playoff time. I liked his game last night. Somewhat lost on the Nylander goal was Marleau's work behind the Leafs net getting it up to Naz.Bullfrog said:Guilt Trip said:If Marleau falters, then maybe but he also played well last night.Bullfrog said:Put that man on Kadri's line, please!
I agree, actually. Though I haven't been as down on him as others have been.

Cassidy commented on this before the game and it's something Mitch has been doing forever in a variety of ways.
At the beginning of the year, he add this L cut on entries, and what Marner does really well is timing his cut into the middle to coincide with the backchecking forward meeting the gapping up defenseman. This frees up a slip pass to a linemate coming into the zone with speed (hi, Rielly) while his running mate basically drags two other players to the net (Hyman).
