Game 10: Leafs @ Capitals 7:00PM LEAFS TV

I can't help but see a pretty significant similarity in Kessel and Ovechkin's struggles. They both seem to rely on outskating everyone and a pretty limited selection of moves that they go to regardless of whether or not it's proven effective without much of a second option.

Good observation.  Although it seemed like Ovechkin was infinitely creative in his first few years.

Man Scrivens is not ready for this league. I know he's only let in 2 but man oh man...

Really? I thought he's played pretty well.

I think he's struggled to stay in control but he's done a really nice job of battling.  Can't blame him on either goal and he's made a few nice saves.  Certainly a good enough performance that you would want out of your backup at the very least.

I wondert what the ruling would be in a case like this.

A Leafs player lifts the puck up to clear the zone and it heads over the Leafs bench and is headed over the glass but a player (or coach for that matter) reaches up and grabs it before it goes over the glass. I assume the play is dead and there is no penalty, but think about it.... the guy on the bench prevented a delay of game.... could that ever happen?

Plus he avoided the tying goal late in the 3rd...

If the officials felt the puck would have otherwise gone over the glass, it would still be a penalty.

Now, if all games were on the road... playoffs baby.

5-5 after 10 GP, not too bad, not too great, someone has to fix the PK and PP, and teach people to score on EN late in the game...

Glad to have the points, I think the home form is a mental thing as much as anything, if they fix that, they could be close.

We're in most games with most of our key players not contributing, you have to think they'll show up eventually, at that point we could give some team fits.

What a meh game.  Probably a loss against a better team, but I guess I'll take it.

This is what it's come down to.

Yes, the Caps looked bad for almost the whole game, but let's give the Leafs some credit.  Second half of a B2B and they held on to a 1-goal lead when they could have collapsed as they so often have done these past few years.  I call it a good win.

Doesn't matter who the coach is the PK has sucked for years.  They refuse to pressure the points and they get torched because of it, yet no one will address the problem.

What happened to the Caps? Leafs usually get hammered in the second game of a back to back.

Caps are a mess but hey we're back to .500 with a chance to pull above against Winnipeg

Interesting that .500 is the playoff line right now in the East as the OTL numbers are pretty low with 0 or 1 for everyone except New Jersey who is above the pack.  I wonder how well that will hold...maybe games will be closer as play tightens up?
