Game 34: Panthers @ Leafs - Mar. 26, 7:00pm - Sportsnet, Fan 590

Excellent key to the game, Sportsnet:

Leafs - "establish lead". Why not mention "score more goals than opposition?".

It's funny, I'm pretty sure they did put something like that before one of the games - possibly against Pittsburgh.

Wasn?t the Panthers supposed to be the absolut worst in almost every aspect of the game?

I knew this would happen. 3 games in 4 nights and Panthers rested. Built in excuse for Leafs to mail the game in.

I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but I would call this game a must win for the Leafs. There are no gimmies in the NHL but you have to figure this is as close as it gets; especially considering their injuries.

A long way to go and only one down so no panic, but I'll be extremely disappointed if they don't find a way to get 2 points.

That's twice now where the Leafs have put pressure on three consecutive shifts and Carlyle goes to his 4th line and it ends in a defensive zone faceoff.

It's amazing how many times the Orr-McLaren combo gets hemmed in their own zone after starting the shift with the puck.

On the flip side it's really kind of impressive how many puck battles the Kulemin-Lupul-Kadri line wins in the offensive zone.

I don't know what's going on with SOG lately but I do know that you aren't going to win tons of games when it's 3:1 in favor of the other team.

To be fair, I think after the Florida goal that the Leafs are outplaying Florida.  Kind of hard to play through the neutral zone trap.  Florida seems to get away with a lot of those little hooks and the long rub-outs along the boards where they are really just impeding your ability to come in on the forecheck.

And to be even more fair, Florida is pretty much shooting from anywhere everytime they enter the zone.  Lots of long wrist shots.
