Game 44: Islanders @ Leafs - Apr. 18, 7:00pm - LeafsTV, TSN 1050

The Leafs can't be asleep at the wheel tonight, like they have been the last two games. I expect a good showing. We should get a true sense of what this team can do heading towards the playoffs.

I remember that series their fans are local ,the leafs had to be protected from the Islander fans when they left the ice

Hope you're right, Islanders are in the same spot as the Leafs looking to get closer to clinching a spot.

Was that the series where Sundin was hurt and Mogs scored the GWG in Game 7?  My memory is hazy.

I think it was Travis Green who scored the eventual GWG in game 7.

Could be -- I have a recollection of Mogs getting a game winner, maybe it was G6 to keep the series going....

EDIT: Nope, you were right, it was Green and then Mogs sealed it with an EN.  That's what I remember, leaping out of my chair when he scored at the end.

I was in the end reds at that game -- it was fantastic.

That was a hell of a series.

And to think -- we are on the cusp of PLAYOFF HOCKEY AGAIN.

A mid April game between the Leafs and Islanders that actually means something. What is this, 1978?

GO LEAFS GO!

Game 1 of 2002 ECQF between Toronto and the Islanders was 11 years ago today.

One of the craziest series I've evern witnessed. Man, that was bad blood.

The Islanders fans that came here (actually on the old site, penaltybox.com) during that series were just insane.  Really frightening people.  And then later those playoffs, the Carolina fans coming here were just unbelievably polite, nice people.  What a stark contrast.

I remember that.  It was my first year posting here.  We handled em alright though.  I puffed out my chest sitting there in my living room and told them to suck on it.  8) 8) 8) 8) :o
