Listening on the radio, are Phaneuf and Komisarek paired together? Yeah who would have thunk that wouldn't have worked out.

Well Wilson didn't.  He has lots of career wins, dontcha know.  Amazing how playing our two least mobile defensemen who both make bad decisions in the defensive zone would bomb out.  Especially when they end up on the ice with the Kessel-Lupul combo that are pretty bad defensively to begin with.

Not only that but he's coached a whole hell of a lot of games.

At this point isn't it better to just waive Komi and give another D-man a shot? Holzer, Aulie whoever?

I mean the guy sits for a huge amount of time, and isn't likely to step in and handle big minutes well, and surprise he has a meltdown and fans will jump all over him.

We're in the middle of a playoff race, and we're putting in the guy who flat out can't play. I don't get this team. Meritocracy my left foot....

I'd waive Phaneuf before I'd ditch Komi.  And I'm (almost) serious.  You cannot have a captain playing like crap in his own end more games than not.

Just finished dinner with the sweetie. Looks like we came out flying. 2-0 not even halfway through the first. They better get their shi* together. We need some points in Alberta cuz we're not going to get any on Saturday. I don't like where we may be sitting after the weekend.

He's completely tailed off after his good start this season.  He looks as bad defensively and offensively as ever.

What's sad is that the crowd has been very lopsidedly in favour of the Leafs.  Where is the team however?  Screwing around with bad defensive coverage and being considerably outplayed.

Honestly, we may be in 8th at the moment but its over.  Time to sell.

I think there's some truth to this.

If prices this year are truly "very high" to acquire help, and we aren't going to do anything in the playoffs (let alone make the playoffs), then we should be selling any pieces of value that aren't part of the long term plan.

I'd see if there was interest in any and all D-men, Mac, Kuli, Lombardi, Connolly and even Lupul (I like him a lot but I'd at least listen).

We're just nowhere near a playoff calibre team. Soft, sloppy, bad defensively, with the potential for explosive offensive outbursts. What we lack is any kind of consistency.

He's definitely on the most overrated list for a reason. I don't think he's the most overarated player in the league. You can see at times the talent is there but you're 100% correct too many miscues. Decisions with and without the puck are mind boggling.

Watched repeated highlights of both goals and not sure what Phaneuf did so bad defensively?  He was at the end of a shift on the first one and was kind of running around, but that was due to reacting to a shot that missed the net and went around the boards - it was the forwards (Lupul/Bozak) who completely missed the Flames guy come in off the boards.

The second goal - well, terrible line change and Komisarek.

Another game in a row where the team has to come out charging but instead they show up flat as a beer left open for a week. How can we not blame coaching/leadership for this?

Tonight I was thinking of the first goal and his allowing Iginla to get behind him earlier (luckily the pass didn't connect).

He's just not good enough defensively, period.

Because another coach might not do better something something something... Yeah I don't get it either.

I certainly don't think he's great defensively, but I don't think he's bad either, and if he's putting up around 50 points then I can live with it a little more than say....Mr. Komisarek.
