But I'm gonna stick with the old TV rule of if you don't see them die then they're not dead.

That's what I'm thinking here, too. A character that has gotten as much screen time as he has over the last couple seasons? He gets an on-screen death, not an implied one.

There's a chance Tormund and Berric survived as they both ran along the Wall (towards the West it looked like) rather than down the switchback stairs. The eastern chunk calves off into the sea.

Also, I guess we finally got an answer as to whether or not Theon lost the berries along with the twig.

My group was having a debate last night: was the ice dragon's "stuff" fire, ice, magic laser beams?

It was cold fire, produced by the dragons internal cold fusion system.  The ultimate stuff of legends.

It's clearly anti-fire, or, at the very least, dark fire. Even the GoT universe needs to exist in balance. :P

Deftly answering Bronn and Jaime's question from the beginning of the episode.

But it would still hurt to get kicked there, wouldn't it? I mean even if it was just scar tissue it would still be like getting kicked in, like, the knee.

I suppose that would depend on how much padding his codpiece had. If there's enough, he might not feel more than some discomfort.

Which is why I thought he might have some Shaolin training.

So... does anyone else think that Gendry was brought back at that specific point in time simply because the writers needed someone who the audience could (sorta) believe would make the run back to the wall?

Maybe. Also, it was a convenient way to tie up that loose end.

There's that but I also think they wanted to bring him back and have him involved again so he's relevant to the story before where he ultimately ends up which I think is with Arya and the little spark of a crush we saw there way back when turning her into slightly less of a murder-crazed killbot.

Yeah, I definitely think that's the end game for that. Or at least it better be. If Gendry and Arya don't reunite at some point next season...

Also from S01E01:
Robert: We were meant to rule together; if your sister had lived, we would have been bound by blood. Well it's not too late. I have a son; you have a daughter. We'll join our houses.

And we all know Robert was a foreshadow monster.
