Alright. Here we go.
Who starts in net on Saturday night???
I'm leaning toward Scrivens getting the nod, then maybe Riemer on Monday.

I dunno. I think Scrivens for the opener in Montreal makes sense. Give Reimer a couple more days to get in the groove for the home opener.

Carlyle: Has decided on roster for opener. Goaltender for Saturday, biggest question mark. Frattin on the bubble. Debating F/D mix.
See, I don't like that line of reasoning. Scrivens is the one in game shape, but Reimer's going to have to get in game shape at some point! Keeping him off the ice in games is not the way to do that. No matter what happens I'd give Reimer the first 2 or 3 starts and go from there.Zee said:RedLeaf said:I thought it may be time to dig up this old relic of a thread.

I would go with Scrivens, if for nothing else that he's in game shape.

Even if Reimer gets more practice time he's still cold sitting on the bench during games. You have to get him going in games at some point. He's the #1, start him.RedLeaf said:Justin said:See, I don't like that line of reasoning. Scrivens is the one in game shape, but Reimer's going to have to get in game shape at some point! The problem with that is you can't go into the first week of a 48 game season with a "no matter what happens" mindset. Unless you have a clear cut number one goalie, which we clearly don't, I would think running with the hot goalie who's played a lot over the past 3+ months, makes the most sense in this situation. Give Riemer the ball after he's had some more time turning away pucks in practise first. At least that's my thinking here.
slapshot said:At least this looks like a healthy competition. I think Scrivens will push Reimer harder than Gus did last year. I also like the fact that St. Croix isn't forcing them into a cookie cutter style.
I really felt Reimer played too deep in his crease last year and didn't challenge enough. Hope that changes.
