Nice to see Johnsson?s effort but a straight line slapper is how you give away the puck.

At that point just drive to the net and hope the defender takes a penalty trying to stop you. A slapper ain't getting it done.

Unless you're Elias Pettersson I guess.

Or Gretzky in the 80s.

Leafs have been outplayed for most of the game so far. Andersen has been good again. Need to stay out of the box in the 3rd and stop that silly flip pass.

I'm with McKenzie. Marner shouldn't be able to get $10mil.

Agreed. But not two months ago, I couldn't get any of you to admit that Marner was worth significantly more than Nylander. How the narrative has changed.

One player playing alongside John Tavares. The other is sitting. Guess which one is building on his portfolio of work?

I think that?s pretty much every collateral ligament. Maybe the patella tendon like Gauthier?s.

Nylander played all season last year alongside Matthews to build on his portfolio prior to the end of his entry level. It was never at the level of Marner from the 2nd half of last season to current. I'm consistently baffled that you and a few others think they're comparable talents.

Marner got beat pretty badly there but made a great switch off to cover the trailer after his mark got deep enough.

Cool how you had to specify that only Marner?s second half of the season should count. And also specified that Nylander spent the whole season with Matthews when he was injured for 20 games.

Marner has played pretty much every game with a veteran centre. Bozak/JvR, Kadri, Tavares are not exactly nothing in terms of getting points for their wingers. Now I?m not saying Marner is trash as he is fantastic and wonderful and definitely better than Strome and Hanifin, but you?re severely underselling Nylander whose opportunity is quite a different deployment than Marner?s. Their underlying production is very comparable.

Smith is falling into a moving stick and now his towel looks like it?s soaking in fruit punch Gatorade.

Didn't Marner play with Matt Martin for a stretch at the beginning of the season, and made him actually look like an NHL player? Since then, he's done nothing but make other players better. The powerplay runs through him. JVR put up goals basically by just putting his stick on the ice. He consistently takes over games, regardless of his linemates. While Matthews was out, Nylander looked lost.

How is that a high stick? Gardiner's stick never made it higher than his waist. How abouts you don't put your face down there dumb dumb.

Nylander also made Martin look like an NHLer. You?re also severely underrating JvR?s abilities.

Look at Zach Hyman?s shooting percentage when Nylander is his centre in 2016 and tell me again how Nylander doesn?t make anyone better. Nylander?s defensive pair was often Roman Polak.

At least they called it "slashing" instead of high sticking to avoid the dumb extra 2 minutes for blood.
