Habs @ Leafs - Mar. 17th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

It's hard to believe that Nylander only has 15 goals.  He has been the most dangerous forward out there many a night.

Not enough shots.  His shooting percentage is down a titch from last year but he only has 150 shots in the season.  He had 205 last year.

Doesn't help that he plays with Matthews most of the time and Auston is the goal scorer more often than not. I think on his own line Nylander would score more

I haven?t looked at the numbers specifically yet, but I?d hazard a guess that he has a lot of shot attempts but also a lot of missed nets, since he is pretty much always looking for top corner or post and ins.

This has been a surprisingly tolerable Coach?s Corner and I hope I haven?t spoken too soon.

My only beef is that I wish Ron would once or twice mention the literally hundreds of times where getting a stick in the shooting lane caused a good deflection.

It's a gaping hole in his analytical repertoire.

Nylander is 5th on the team in iCF/60 (shot attempt rate).
JvR: 18.22
Matthews: 15.59
Kadri: 14.98
Marner: 14.62
Nylander: 11.57

Willy is third on the team in raw shot attempts.

He?s 8th in ixGF/60, which is to say he tends to shoot from a bit further out than most guys in the top 9 (he?s only ahead of Bozak and Brown).

All numbers are 5v5 from Corsica

Those player interviews during the intermissions really don't add anything. The players are generally so well media trained they offer nothing but soundbytes and add absolutely no benefit or insight to the broadcast (And you can hardly blame them- they're not going to give out tactical info or anything).

And the reporter doing them must hate them too cos if they ask a question to try and get some decent info and the player responds with a disdainful answer.

Ron?s not going to try to put his stick into Don?s lane.

That replay shows how Kapanen, upon reception of Dermott?s bank pass, juices the burners a touch to bring his body on top of the defender?s hands/stick to take him out of the play.

This replay doesn?t really show it.

Holy hell the Habs are bad. Leafs are playing 3 games in 4 nights too, I actually didn't expect them to dominate like this.
