Don't worry everyone, Gardiner's probably back next game.

Yeah, I stand corrected.  I thought the Leafs could deal him at the deadline and just plug in somebody else and not drop off that much.  The last month has proved the JG boosters right and me rather seriously wrong.
They have missed Jake terribly.  Boy, for his sake if he does come back I hope he plays well for his sake.  It will be a tall order coming back right before the playoffs.

It will, but if I were him I'd just say to hell with G7 last year, just go and let it all hang out and if it blows up it blows up.  He's not coming back anyway so just go for it.

That?s not a great stat.  4 wins in their last 12.  Yuck.
This team is underperforming their talent level. Canes have a good record but they just don't have the same depth as we do, so I'm really starting to think this isn't a personnel problem apart from maybe Sparks. As bad as he's been you can't win a lot of games with 1 goal.

I for one will be very understanding if he has trouble.  Tall order and his absence has shown how important a player he is.

As good as he is, Matthews is sometimes clueless with the puck in dangerous areas defensively.

I think he?s a very confident player that can pull off moves most players don?t even think of. He just needs to get better at picking the right times to do it. He coughed it up at the blueline in the Ottawa game trying to backhand spin a self pass off the boards when Rielly was right there for an easy bump back, and instead turns it over for a goal.

Meh, he's 21 years old. His defensive game will improve.

Even with the absences, they haven?t played terribly well for awhile with the exception of a few games.  There is something wrong.

If have to hear the ?back to back? excuse again I?ll puke.  Apologists nonsense.

Every single back to back is supposed to be a loss?  The season didnt end last night.  Grow up.

They are 6-7-0 in the 2nd half of back-to-backs after tonight.

They can't even make a simple pass out of their own end. It's absolutely incredible how bad this team is at leaving their zone with the puck.

Well, except last night.

A broken watch is right twice a day.

Or 46 times a season.

Playing crap teams about 70 times a year has nothing to do with that....

There is. What I'm saying is I don't know if it's personnel rather than execution.

Is Babcock extremely done with Gauthier?

Which is what you would expect from an underperforming team.  They haven?t performed to their talent level.  Can they beat the bruins?  Sure, it?s hockey.  But no one here really thinks they will.  Based on the talent on this team that shouldn?t be the case.

What about something like this against Boston:

Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Nylander-Matthews-Kapanen
Johnsson-Kadri-Moore
Marleau-rotating double-shifted center (AM, NK, WN ... not JT since he PKs)-Brown

Rielly/Dermott/Muzzin/Gardiner
Hainsey/Zaitsev/Rosen

It's probably impossible to manage, but if you seriously limit the 4th line's icetime ... maybe? And running an extra d-man might help Hainsey and/or Rosen not get overloaded?
