It seems kapanen is the type of guy that plays better when he's pissed off a bit.

My god, is marincin an absolute disaster with the puck. There were three times where he was given the puck, with plenty of time, and managed to hand it right over to the canes for significant zone time. The one 2 minutes into the first where Tavares gave it to him on the reverse when the puck came back was just comical.
Yes on both accounts.

Is there truly no one on the marlies that can do a better job? Gravel?

Marincin is quite good without the puck and as Nik says, he's league min. salary. Even compared to Lily he's more reliable on D (presumably hence why he's played the last couple games while Lily hasn't) and I guess the Leafs feel that's more important right now than slick passing.

I like Marincin well enough but I don't think he's a better option than Liljegren right now.
Agree with you. Would rather see Liljegren. JT line horrible there. Sandin with a nice hit.

Marincin gets a lot of criticism for being a league minimum 7th defenseman.

No one is expecting bobby orr, but you simply can't have a guy in the lineup that can't reliably give and receive an pass with time and space.

I don't think the hypothetical guy you'd be happy with would be a league minimum guy. Playing good defense in the NHL, even just competent defense, is a skill people pay for.

Ya I agree with you he's good without the puck but watching from the press box.

I feel like Mitch might be fighting the flu bug the last few games. He's been uncharacteristically mediocre.

Why does Marner suck all game and then suddenly whip out a fancy pass for a Matthews goal and all is forgiven

Malgin effort is nice. And then surprised he got so much time and space thanks to Tavares and muffins that pass.

Your boy Willy needs to work on his baseball game next off-season.

Man some of the things Matthews does with the puck in tight spaces are crazy. It's like watching Steve Nash or Jason Williams play point guard.

No excuses. He's been brutal tonight. Willy habst been much better. Freddie all by himself tonight.
