Idiocracy

Unbelievably, he might have topped himself this morning.

Accused a sitting female senator of offering sexual favors/begging him for campaign contributions, all because she had the temerity to call for his resignation over the sexual assault allegations against him.

He could not be more tone deaf if he tried. It's really quite something.

Every day he continues to sit in office is a disgrace.  Every single politician who supports him should be escorted out when he finally gets impeached.

How any conservative could support this lunacy is beyond me. These people don't even attempt to understand the constitution of the country they supposedly want to run:

Conspiracy hat time.  Republican led Supreme Court of Alabama overturned a request to hold election results.  Now there are some reports coming out of a bunch of people who were previously registered to vote being told they are inactive voters.

I'd be more surprised at this point if that didn't happen.

Fellas, fellas...the Supreme Court said America isn't racist anymore when they gutted the Voting Rights act. So clearly those stories are from the 60's.

Breath a sigh of relief everyone.  The pedophile only got 500,000+ votes!

A slim plurality of sanity defeated dangerously unqualified religious fundamentalism.

That's what a win looks like in 2017.

Yeah, but in ultra Republican, deep red Alabama. So, it's something. Maybe some on the right are starting to listen to their conscious.

By my count about 20,000 write ins.  Moore is going to lose by less than 20,000 votes.  I think the fact that 600,000 people still voted for a pedophile is a small comfort in spite of a nice victory in Alabama.  For every "but it's Alabama, they always go Red" there is still the fact that the Democrats could only barely beat out a pedophile.

Meanwhile they sacrifice their own like Al Franken over considerably less damaging accusations with little actual political benefit.

To both busta and LK: I agree with you both. It's not everything but it's something. Journey of a million miles and all that.

I agree with you Nik, but honestly, LK has a strong point.

The left spends far too much cannibalizing itself for not being perfect, while the Republicans run the country off a cliff.

Eh...I mean I get what you're saying re: guys like Franken but I'd just as much argue that what's really hurt the Democrats in the past has been not fully embracing principle and going for Clinton-style MOR gamesmanship. I mean I do think that, you know, it hurt the Democrats that they tried to make a meal of the sexual harassment allegations against Trump while having to pretend Clinton and her husband didn't have baggage there too.

Maybe embracing the idea of not having tolerance for sexual harassment, and turfing guys like Franklin means that's something they can run on in 2018. Looking at the numbers from tonight, I really do think the Democrats future is in appealing to its base and exciting their base over trying to win over moderates.

I'll give up literally all of my possessions if somebody can prove that Trump actually wrote this out all on his own.

This is also pretty striking:

I hope you're right and I hope they can sell that strategy in a way that energizes enough people to come out and vote for what is right and what is just.

I just wonder if that'll be enough to close the gap on a Republican base that is so rabid that they almost elected a pedophile tonight.

There is a real Balkinization strategy at the heart of Trump and the Republican message and I hope we don't swing too far that way before the Democrats can reign them back in.

Not to mention that it's a six-year term, I think he thinks they have a shot at it again in 2018.

No, this was an election to fill the remainder of Sessions' term after he was named AG. So it's a three year term that will be up for election in 2020.

Thanks for the clarification, that'll teach me to parrot the words of noted liar Brian Williams on MSNBC.  ;)
