I don't really get the folks who want to trade Kapanen.  Sure, he's not really a Top 6 but his speed alone can throw a monkeywrench into lock-it-down teams like NYI.  Kappy's like a chaos bomb.

I think many of the "trade Willy" and "trade Kappy" and "trade [__insert good player's name__]" suggestions have nothing to do with wanting to lose that player but are more about badly wanting to upgrade our D and/or back-up goaltending and realizing that we have to give up something to get something.

I think we should look at trading one or two of our excess of skilled, fast wingers to address those deficiencies. If that means losing Kappy, it will be unfortunate but we have some pretty-close replacements for him.

I like Johnsson but I think Kapanen brings a bit more game-changiness.

Said it many times. Between the two Johnsson goes for me and I like him. Kappy is cheaper and a better all around player. You can't teach that speed.

Tell your parents to put the sweet potatoes in a take-out clamshell and get into the living room in front of their 292-inch Wall TV.

I think if it comes to that, it's a matter of which player gets a better return. I think it would be Kappy, the question is whether it would be worth it. Depends on the deal.

Weird islanders get the first PP.  Ceci, not good.

Tough situation for Ceci. I thought it was a good penalty to take.

I agree.  Ceci has been all right tonight.
I agree. We don't like his cap hit or his offence but he's playing much better on the 3rd pairing with Dermott. He's also a pretty decent PKer.

No question...thing is I think Kappy would net a better D in trade than Johnsson would...if it's good enough a return, you do it.

Precisely.

I think if Dubas goes for a high D man ala Muzz, it will be a package deal from the Leafs which could include a guy like Timashov. I don't think Kappy or Johnsson alone gets us the D man we want.

Hey Hobbes, now that you're here ... I read your interesting comment in the other thread about what's it like to play at high-end international tourneys, that there's no comparison with any other competitions, and so that could explain why Sandin would welcome the WJC.  If you give us just a teensy tiny hint about what sport you play(ed), I promise never ever to change your MotM vote again.  How's that sound?

A bit of a preview of playoff-type defense.

Kelly Hrudey is absolutely the greatest analyst ever.
Haha. You know what's funny though. The Bruins don't D play like the Isles. Not many teams play this boring trap low chance type game. Isles should be opening it up a little more now being down 2-0.
