Islanders @ Leafs - Jan. 7th, 7:00pm - TSN, SN 590

You know, a real team at this point would look at themselves, say this is not acceptable, and mount a friggin' comeback.

You know.

Not a good effort.  Not much they are doing right these days.  Carlye doesn't seem to ever get a spirited effort out of his gang.

What a response by the team.  No-show for three periods then lose to the Islanders playing back-to-backs.

And against, statistically, the worst goalie in the league to have started at least 11 games this season.

I really believe there are many who are thrilled with that goal. Some have been against Bernier taking Reimer's job from the start because, hey, Reimer's such an "aw shucks" nice guy, nevermind Reimer's role in last year's collapse and Bernier's superior technical abilities (Bad timing for that one aside...).

Bernier goes on a stretch of three or four great games, and all you hear is complaining that Reimer didn't get a fair shake.

At this point I hope they just give the job to Reimer now and trade Bernier so we can talk about something else.

Like how Carlyle is dumb, perhaps.

Tipped by Phaneuf on the way in there

Oh yeah. Phaneuf may have touched it while the puck was still one kilometre away from our goal. That explains everything.

Actually it explains a lot. A puck tipped like that has a tendency to knuckle and move on a completely different trajectory than a normal shot.

Yeah, just look at how pumped everyone is.  Giddy even.

Oh, they're out there.

But yeah, Bernier isn't playing any better than the team. They are all pretty rotten right now.

And the core is in place. Might as well re-sign Randy, Nonis.

If you noticed during 24/7 they weren't listening to him there either

I have nothing against either of them, but Bernier has sucked tonight and should have been pulled after the second goal.  Simple as that.

I guess the Leafs fluked into the playoffs last year due to a shortened season.  Faced with a full season, the playoffs seem less and less likely with each passing game.

Actually I thought this has been one of the more spirited efforts lately.... A couple of bad breaks and some sub par goaltending has taken a bit of life out of them though.
