If McClement scored there I would have taken back everything I've said about him being a terrible offensive player. He didn't though.

Selke never scored either.  Well, maybe he did.

It's pretty funny how opinions of Schenn have changed since he was drafted. But yeah, thanks but no thanks. Especially not for Gardiner.

Yeah. Definitely not for Gardiner. I mean, Brayden's having a decent season, but, I think the "potential 1st line centre" ship has sailed. He's pretty terrible when it comes to face-offs, and is probably destined for the wing long-term.

Selke wasn't a 4th line center when his team was healthy and had problems getting the puck out of his defensive zone when he couldn't just ice the puck like on the PK.

I'm guessing, I've actually never seen him play.

I was kidding.  My point being that I couldn't care less if he doesn't score so long as he anchors an effective PK.

Fair enough. That Selke talk always bugged me though. There's a difference between being the best penalty killer in the league (which McClement probably is) and being the best defensive player in the league (which McClement definitely isn't).

I've liked Clarkson's game a little more tonight again. I think he's growing into the team. Would still be nice for him to notch a goal, though.

I know you meant best defensive forward ... now, is he that?  You say no.  I wonder though if your perception is correct though.  I guess it's hard to measure how often somebody should clear the zone ... is there an advanced stat for that?
