Jake Gardiner

Significantly Insignificant said:
Moving him to forward doesn't make much sense to me because part of what makes him dangerous is that he can lead a rush and jump in to a rush from the back end causing a mismatch.  Moving him to forward takes that part of his game away from him.

Nonis pretty much says the same thing, the Leafs like him on the power play from the point.

Jake Gardiner last played forward in high school. He played 21 minutes a night on D in the NHL last season. Why are we talking about this?

Because it is a slow news day and nothing else to talk about.

To save some cap space, it only make sense to have Clarkson play a dual role as backup goaltender. He's used to being in the crease, and he flails around a lot. All the pieces fit. Unarguable, really.
