Woll got sent down to the Marlies, so it looks like all 3 goalies are available now

Agostino also got upgraded from Emergency Loan body to actual Taxi Squad call up, so whichever injury he was subbing for is back in action (I have no idea who).

Good for Woll.  Not sure whether he is realistically ever going to get a shot to play in the NHL but he is currently sitting at zero games played this year  due to spending his time as the 3rd and sometimes second goalie over the last few weeks.

Another guy with decent point totals in limited NHL exposures.  He was the good soldier last year in the AHL.  I'm kind of surprised he didn't get into the lineup earlier in the year.

LK mentioned DeMelo's name in another thread, so I thought I'd take a look to see how he's doing this season since a lot of people (including myself) wanted the Leafs to target him at the deadline and in free agency last year.

0 goals, 3 assists in 21 games while averaging 16:20 a game in ice-time. 49.33 CF%, 51.85 GF%, 50.17 xGF%.

That seems... ok, but probably slightly underwhelming. He was never a big scorer but having such low production is a problem. His ice-time is down about 5 minutes a game from his post-deadline stint with the Jets last season. His possession numbers aren't great but Winnipeg as a team is at 47.89% and only 1 defenceman on the team is over 50% (Pionk). Poolman and Beaulieu, who are both getting more ice-time than him, are at about 46%.

So not great but at the same time it's pretty bizarre they aren't giving him more of a chance in the top-4. Morrissey's top 2 partners this season have been Poolman (46.81 CF% when together) and Beaulieu (38.6 CF% together). But in the minutes he has played with Morrissey they're at 52.75 CF%.

While we are on the topic of Winnipeg defenseman...and yeah, DeMelo has been very whelming this year but can someone explain to me why Morrissey gets fawned over every time we play the Jets (or I'm watching other Winnipeg games).

He's certainly not a bad defenseman but the broadcasts seem to make it seem like he's in the upper tier of them.

He starts 61% of his shifts in the offensive zone.  He has a 48.9% CF, GF% 42.9%  xGF% 41.4%

It drives me crazy every time the broadcast goes on about him.  He takes these insanely long shifts and they talk up that he has stayed on the ice for 2+ minutes sometimes and I'm just left baffled at why a guy staying on the ice with exhausted legs is a good thing

Stylistically, Winnipeg's defensemen are relatively uninvolved on offense, hence the interesting numbers.

Not to say that he isn't a little overrated but his primary partner since Trouba left has been Tucker Poolman, and that's way higher in the line-up than that guy should be playing.

Winnipeg's defence has really taken a hit in the past few years. Byfuglien. Trouba. Even losing a guy like Myers, who they obviously made the right choice in letting leave, is still a sting when you don't have anyone really to replace him with. Pionk's been a lot better than I expected him to be there but he mostly just provides offensive value.

More like Fallywood, amirite

Someone kept giving players awful nicknames on the site a few years ago.  Was it you?

On a side note, if Jimmy Vesey falls in a forest, does anyone hear it?

Interesting comment. The trio of Vesey-Boyd-Spezza, which has been the 4th line for the past few games, have a 38.89 CF% together this season in about 52 minutes. The Petan-Boyd-Spezza line had a 63.64 CF% in about 42 minutes.

Leafs to light up Connor Hell_I_Suck tonight.

Yes, but will they outlight the lighting that will light up Andersuk?

His proper nickname is Andersieve

He should move to the Vatican he's so holy.
Or Switzerland where the cheese has more holes than cheese.
He should really switch to Geico so he can save more.
