she knows who really should have won the award she handed out.

And Lupul got the better of the trophies.

Who's Cheryl Burke?  Related to Brian Burke?

Dancing with the Stars alum (actually competes almost every season? I don't watch it but I see her name listed for almost every year),

She's born and raised Californian. No apparent relation to BB. And I suppose I'm okay with the relationship with my Joffrey, she's never been in any notable trouble with the law or paparazzi fodder like Lindsay Lohan etc.

I love it. As long as she's better than Lindsay freakin' Lohan. Mama bear a little soft today?  ??? Kidding aside, pretty girl. I know knothing about her so I guess in a way that's good in that she's probably never in much or any trouble.

Ha! Seems someone might be inclined to agree (carried over from the JVR thread.)

The new face of your Toronto Maple Leafs?

That facial expression gives the impression that he just scored...whether it was on the ice or on Twitter remains to be seen though :D

Really, Mr. Phaneuf? You were just asked to relay your feelings about the professional demise of a man who bestowed on you the 18th captaincy of the Toronto Maple Leafs ? a man who held your on-ice abilities in delusional esteem ? and the biggest word you can come up with is seven letters long? Can you confirm this is precisely how you feel?

Pretty much sums up why I can't stand to read anything by Dave Feschuk.  My hate for his writing is rivaled only by Rosie DiManno.

I'm not a big fan of Phaneuf, but that was completely valueless, aside from being needlessly mean.

Dave Feschuk's been absolutely horrible since he had that run-in with Leafs brass after the Reimer incident. It's as if he vowed when that happened never to write a positive article on the Leafs again.

He is criticizing Phaneuf for his vocabulary?  (... I see the point about the smaller, 4-letter words ...)

I have a four letter word to describe Feschuck : "hack"

Yeah, that's some really nuanced sports writing there, taking multiple paragraphs to simply say that Phaneuf is inarticulate.  "Less is more", pffft.

I bet Feschuk could totally take Honey Boo-Boo down a peg or two with some really sharp zingers.

Good article on Lupul and his "perspective" (and new respect) for European & Russian players' transitions...

http://www.torontosun.com/2013/01/15/lupul-has-new-perspective-after-playing-in-russia

...even for a short time, gave him much more of an appreciation for what European players, particularly Russians, have to go through when they first come to the NHL.

?It?s hard enough being from another country and coming and joining a new team and kind of being an outsider for a while. But coming from Russia where they don?t speak any English really, and have such a different culture, I think you definitely sympathize for those players. Some guys ? Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin ? have come over and have done a great job and I think it?s actually pretty commendable.?
