Lupul, he's so hot right now.

? no points in last 4 games = hot?

Maybe he meant this?

Methinks he looks better without his jersey.  ;D

Last night Kadri had a 67.9% CF when matched up against Zetterberg. Tonight he goes 52.2% head-to-head against Kopitar. Some nice performances from our best centre.

10 points and a +10 in his last 9 games, now on a 22 goal/50 point pace for the year.

Since October 31st he is on a 25G 66P pace.

Franson's on pace for almost 56 points.  Only 2 D finished with more than that last season.

Still only 12th in scoring among defencemen oddly enough. Looks like 18 defencemen are on pace for 50+ points right now. Just 8 hit that mark last season. Some will low down and injuries will probably prevent a few from hitting 50, but a lot of d-men are putting up points this season.

This year, league goals per game: 5.4844
Last year, league goals per game: 5.4886

Interesting shift to top dmen getting more points while the scoring remains the same ...

Missed both games this weekend. Never thought they'd sweep them.

After they lost to the Devils, not long after the fiasco of the Nashville and Buffalo games, I thought they were in trouble with the upcoming schedule of Vancouver, Calgary, Detroit twice and LA.

As in recent seasons past, I do not have a very good handle on this team.

You're not alone, my friend.  At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see anywhere between 2 and 18 points in the next 10 games.

it seems like the linesmen are being quite lax on offsides this year.  There are at least a couple times for each team every game I have watched that I thought a blatant offside was let go.

also, watching calgary and LA, these so-called hard working teams seem to get away with a ton of interference.  maybe reputation non-calls or maybe it is harder to call when they always have their feet moving?  just a thought that I have noticed lately.

Yeah I noticed that too last night. Their defencemen were often getting in the way of forwards after they dumped the puck into LA's zone. A lot of very close/borderline interference calls could have been made.

Agreed. I think the natural instinct, after what we've seen the past few years, is to be very concerned. I, on the other hand have a little more faith than most about this years squad.

The players they've added in the off season aren't rookies or shrinking violets. While I still feel a slump is inevitable, I don't see it being of the same, soul crushing, playoff-killing variety we're used to seeing around here.

Of course, that doesn't come with a personal guarantee, and all bets are off if there are any key injuries down the stretch. :D

I think the bigger concern regarding a slump is that there are enough teams that have improved since last year that it can be pretty easy for even a 5-GE slide to have you sitting behind 3 or 4 teams.

So many teams bunched together also. Nine wins in eleven games and the Leafs haven't really pulled away from the pack or anything. Lose 3-4 in a row and they would be knocked out of a playoff spot.

From what I see they're 7 points up on the next possible playoff team?  And your scenario assumes those teams win all of those games if the Leafs lost 3-4 in a row.

Same could be said for anyone in the East - its that close.  There is a tiny bit of seperation between the top 6 teams in the East and the rest, but the Leafs are 2 points out of 1st in our division as opposed to 7 point lead on the team holding the last playoff spot.

You guys are right though, no extended losing streaks are required for success.  I hope the core players and coaching staff of this team have learned - no complacency.
