Remember like a week ago when I brought up an actual NHL analyst/media member that didn't have Matthews in his top-5 for the Hart? lol

That's anti-Toronto bias

Lol. Yeah. That guy. On the flip side, there's this:

Matthews is on pace for 63 goals and 110 points this season. That wouldn?t just be a special season; it?d be one of the best ever by a Leafs player, maybe the best ever by a Leafs player. This is shaping up to be one of the more special seasons by anyone, anywhere in recent NHL history.

The last player to score at least 63 goals and 110 points in the same season was Alex Ovechkin 14 years ago. Ovechkin finished with 65 goals and 112 points during that 2007-08 power-play-infused season.

Only 12 players have reached those heights. And only five have done it in the past 30 years. Ovechkin is the only player in recent memory. The others: Mario Lemieux (twice), Alex Mogilny, Luc Robitaille and Teemu Selanne.

Definitely no reason to be part of the conversation for the Hart. Nope.

Heck, I'm not even sure it's really a conversation at this point. If the voting happened today no other skater should get a sniff at the #1 vote on a Hart ballot. Shesterkin is the only other player who would have a case for it.

Well, yeah. That is the conversation - Matthews or Shesterskin? I suppose it's basically the same conversation for the Lindsay.

It's pretty amazing we're actually legitimately allowed to have this conversation and not be laughed at.  The Leafs have never really had guys in the conversation for these types of awards before.  Sundin was never really regarded as the best at anything, he was a top player to be sure, but he wasn't head and shoulders the best goal scorer or playmaker in the league the way Auston is regarded for goals right now.  Great time to be a Leafs fan (playoff non-success notwithstanding)

ERA adjusted scoring really highlights just how good Matthews has been the last two years.

Last year he projected out as 63 goals. This year he is on an ERA adjusted pace for 62 goals.

Gretzky's numbers really get nerfed by era adjusted scoring.  Brett Hull's 86 goals in 78 games projects out to 78 goals in era adjusted scoring which is the best number in league history.

That Marner and Matthews are already top 20 in all time scoring is absurd.  Marner is 19th in points.  Matthews is 18th.  Marner is 15th in total assists.  Matthews is 10th in goals already.

We are so spoiled with those two.
