Leafs 2012/2013 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Yeah, I think the drought is over too and I really don't care if we get buried in round one. - I just want to see a Leaf playoff game again.

We're in pretty good shape though to finish in a 4-6 spot, which means we'll likely face Winnipeg, Montreal, or Ottawa. I like our chances against any of those three. Round two would be another story though.

34 games in, and they still haven't gone more than 2 games in a row without earning a point.

That's pretty impressive considering they're just coming off a stretch of two wins in nine games. Those 3-point games are finally helping us after being pretty much nonexistent in the first 20 games.

Actually all the '3-point games' has done is given the opposition free points; Toronto hasn't been helped by any of them ;)

Gotta be encouraged by the consistency of the team, though. They really aren't an easy win for anyone.

I'm calling it now.  The drought is over.  We're making the playoffs this year.

I see no evidence that we will go into a tailspin that would cost us a spot.

Yup.  I can't how the Leafs miss the playoffs at this point.

Not to mention there isn't much runway left here even if they do go on a bit of a slide.  The 48-game season may have been the best thing to happen to this team (well, maybe moreso us fans).

It's a fight for position now. The worst thing that could happen is for one of the teams beneath Toronto to go on a surge and steal the #6 seed from them.

Finishing at least 6th is key because not only is Winnipeg a favourable matchup, but finishing 7th would likely result in a series with Boston.

Even if the Leafs play .500 the rest of the season, they would have 54 points meaning Carolina would need 11 wins in their remaining 17 games to pass the Leafs.

Obviously anything can occur between now and the end of the season including trades and injuries, but the Leafs have 6th in the East most of the season.  Maybe they can move up to 5th, but I do not see the Leafs falling below 6th.  Would be nice if Montreal goes into a slump allowing the Leafs to move up to 4th and have home ice advantage in the first round, but that is remote.

LOL, we've gone from missing the playoffs for 7 straights seasons to already thinking about our 2nd round opponent.

Just checking this out and it's interesting that we held the fort at .500 in the 1st and 3rd tens and it was really the 2nd ten and our hot start to the 4th ten that have us ahead in the playoff race.

I hope getting a whiff of a playoff spot only makes the guys hungrier!!  If we can get 8+ pts in these next 6 then we can start worrying about the matchups instead of whether we'll find a way to blow it.

So far this season, the Leafs have managed to get at least half the available points in each 10-game chunk. I would imagine that any team which manages to accomplish this for the whole season is a virtual lock for the playoffs.

10 of 12 points so far on this chunk, keep it up boys!

Looks to me like were in,and now playing for home ice. nice.

Yeah I think it's a done deal. 12 games to go provided they don't go 3-9 they can't miss. Thursday is a win against a Flyers team playing back to back while the Leafs have 4 days off.

I have no doubt in my mind now that the Leafs will play some playoff hockey this spring. Fantastic! My only concern at this point is the match ups for the first round. As it sits now, if the Leafs overtake the Sens in the standings, the Bruins are our 1st round opponent. I'd rather have any other team than Boston. Hopefully it shakes out differently and we face the Jets, Sens or Habs. I'd really like to see the Leafs win a round now, and I think with the right match up, they can.

Current chances Leafs are in:
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html
99.4% (6th highest in the league)

http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/playoff_prob.cgi
98.1% (8th highest in the league)

Leafs first round opponent chances
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Eastern/Northeast/Toronto.html
28.2% Boston
22.6% Montreal
16.3% Winnipeg
12.3% Carolina
... others below that

Naturally given their recent head-to-head history, most would prefer anything but the Bruins.

It would be hilarious if we met the Bruins in round 1 and took the series, with Kessel dekeing the hell out of Chara in triple OT and scoring to win the series and it was in Toronto and the fans yelled "THANK YOU BOSTON".

One can dream lol

Hello chunk nation, this 10 game chunk is looking good so far, back at it tonight.  I expect a win tonight against a Flyers team that a)played last night and won b)should be tired/not as urgent coming off a win.

Yes but also fighting for their playoff lives so we need not take them lightly.
