Leafs 2017 Entry Draft

Wings seem to make the first blunder with Michael Rasmussen at 9.

I thought they'd take Liljegren, or maybe Gabriel Vilardi who is dropped down the draft pretty hard and played nearby in Windsor.

I would love us to move up and grab Liljegren. Whats everyones thoughts?

It would depend on the cost?

For a kid that was ranked up at the top potential first overall I would take the chance. I think Valardi goes next. Only 6 picks after that to ours so I would be on the phones with the teams ahead of us. With such a small difference in moving up or back with a trading partner and give up our 17th might not be that much to give up. C'mon Lou.

Drafting Owen Tippet is a sign the Panthers are shying away from analytics.

Good analysis guy whose name I'm not learning.

Lots of guys who were ranked highly the year before their draft and then fell ended up falling for a reason so I'm inclined to look at the more recent rankings as being pretty significant.

But again, without knowing the cost I'm not going to have a strong opinion.

Is it me or is this really strange and subdued draft coverage? Like the guys at the desk are Cosentino and Debrusk which is Sportsnet's Z team with someone like Elliott Friedman on the floor asking useless questions and Jeff Marek doing...something I suppose.

Maybe I'm just comparing it to the NBA last night but it seems like Sportsnet's top guys all declined to show up.

Sports net has done a terrible job with the NHL across the board since getting the rights.

Well so far if we are taking a D man it's looking good. Been reading on Brannstrom as well he's basically a full year younger than the rest as he won't be 18 till end of September. He made the cut by a few weeks otherwise wouldn't have been eligible. I'll be happy with either.
