Huh?  They weren't doing this already? I  thought the narrative was that they've already been getting the players Dubas wanted (Spezza, Barrie) and Horrible Babcock was undermining them.

They could have done more (I.e. keep Leivo playing, use Petan and Spezza and Holl earlier), skip Polak/Boyle types entirely and keep the assets spent to acquire them...

Ceci played nearly 27 min last night :-O I?m not sure if this is a recipe for long term success.
I actually thought Ceci had a decent game and his block at the end was the game saver. Great reaction.

Ceci had a great game but that doesn't nullify the fact that if they have him playing Suter-like minutes there's no chance of deep success.
Thing is, we don't know that yet. Maybe Keefe has the same effect on his game? Based off what we've seen this year the odds are against it, but many of you wanted to ship Barrie out for nothing until Keefe took over. Time will tell what kind of effect he'll have on him but he was very good last night.

Some work still to be done and I think that's Dubas' job to make some tweaks. Team is weak in their own end. Whether that changes with Keefe we'll see but I think it's personnel.
Have any of you been to Denver?  I was gassed there just walking around, the effort to get wind at that altitude is difficult. Any of their teams has a built in advantage, over visitors.
Then spent 10 days in Crested Butte at over 10,000 Ft., had a headache the entire time, difficult to sleep or do about anything, say it takes two weeks to acclimatize to that level. Most beautiful place I have ever been to but was miserable the entire time.

Sounds like you're really affected by altitude sickness.  I'm lucky, spend a fair amount of of time traveling to CO to Denver along the Front Range and don't have any symptoms at all, even shortness of breath.  Granted, I'm never exerting myself beyond moderate exercise.

Really high up, yes, shortness of breath (at the very least) affects almost everyone.

I do think the altitude may have contributed to them being unable to keep up a high-paced attack beyond the 1st.
When I was in grad school (near sea level) a group of us spent a month in Boulder Colorado. We used to play basketball every Friday and continued that tradition in Boulder. Let me tell you - even though we were in our 20s and used to playing for hours every week, it was completely different at that altitude! I generally wasn't affected by the altitude itself (was able to hike up to above treeline/12000 ft with no problems) but when you tried to really exert yourself it was exhausting.

On the flip side, when we got back to sea level we could run circles around everyone else for a while! Eventually that wore off though.

I can't say I would know how many games Ceci may have cost us over the season, if any at all. However last night he saved us at least a point.  Lets see if Keefe can simplify his game.  One thing is clear is that next year we will see Sandin & Launching Pad on the roster.. but where will Rielly be if he keep playing like he has had a frontal lobotomy?

34/88/91 out together after the PK.

I'll never understand how this was something Babcock did after virtually every PK in Matthews' first season here (except with Kadri of course)... and then he just pretty much stopped doing it.

I think Rielly has some sort of injury. I think Keefe will turn him around and that may involve giving him less ice.
