Leafs @ Avalanche - Jan. 8th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Tavares on the ice for the winner. That makes him a -3. Wasn't really happy with his play tonight.

Just wish Matthews had got more on that shot in OT, looked like he just missed it.

That was brutal. Matthews looked really slow in that OT.

Altitude.  It's a real effect.  The whole team lost speed as the game wore on.
It definitely is. They were gassed near the end of the 2nd.

I have relatives on the Front Range.  It's not noticeable ... until you exert yourself for any length of time.  You can't really get your breath after awhile.  It takes a day or so to acclimate.

Let's re-live this beauty called by the Voice of Leafs Nation.
When the Leafs were up 3-0 and 4-1 I just knew this one was far from over. The calibre of team that the Avs are, coupled with inactivity and the thin air. Well, they managed to score four goals and get a point.

And of course the Avs are a damned good offensive team.

Not sure about their goaltending, though.

Figured they were in tough tonight just with playing in Denver..add in no Marner, Kase and to an extent Engvall and it was as suspected...another tough one on Tuesday against Vegas but at least they won't be playing a mile high.

Especially when you consider how many guys on the team recently were infected with a serious respiratory virus. Recipe for disaster

I think the bottom 6 being unplayable most of the night didn?t help.  I get moving Mikheyev up into the top 6 but I think not having a 3rd line they could play effectively really put a lot of pressure on the team

A few years ago, we stayed at a friends house in Crested Butte Co. The house was at 10K Feet above sea level. We had no energy, head aches, hard to walk our dogs as we were out of breath quickly and had trouble sleeping.  Basically felt bad for the 10 days we were there. Supposedly some people take a month to acclimatize at that level. Brutal

I was expecting the leafs to get crushed. They didnt.

Plug Marner and Kase back in and the leafs are in good shape.

I also thought that was an incredible game by Matthews. His forecheck was insane. Makes me wonder if we could leave the top two lines as is and go with a third line of Kase-Kampf-Marner to spread out the offense even more.

All true (for some people ... sounds like you had altitude sickness bad).  Denver at 5280 is much milder but still noticeable when you first get there.
